What air rifle for $1000?

For a $1000 you can get a super nice springer. I'd suggest HW 97 maybe a stainless steel addition plus you'd have money for a scope and mounts. Get good stuff and save in the end.

Now having said that high power springers are hard (for me at least to shoot accurately) I guess I tend to be flinchy . So If I was buying I'd make a decision as to what I PRIMARILY wanted the gun for. If it was primarily for targets I'd buy a HW 30 in 177 (which I did) and avoid the recoil of the higher power springers. BUT if you are extending out to 100 yards and planning to shoot rabbits or squirrels then definitely the 22 in the higher power gun. My HW 30 shoots really well at 40 yards but it probably not shoot a game that far away. Some one who owns both may tell you that the 97 is fine and not much difference in recoil and cocking effort. Be that the case then the 97 for sure.

Like hammers. Good to have more then one cause --- well you know why. HW or FWB for sure. Get onto AOA and drool.

Buy used. Only the very newest models have resale value these days.

Folks can and certainly will make suggestions with only ".22" & mostly target ( almost and pre-charged will dispatch small things ) .

Any shoots near you? Best would be get together with other airunners and try everything they own to further develop your personal wants list.

If you could live with a single shot used your budget would included a ton of excellent rifle. Maybe w/match trigger AND a proven match winning rifle.

Is the 48 your total airgun experience?

What does everyone reccomend for a $1000 budget? The rifle will be used for mostly target shooting(50-100yards) and some small pest control. Thinking something in .22. Thank you

If your budget is slightly flexible, say by a C-note, I would recommend the Daystate Regal XL. A genuine keeper.

Only shot it a couple times, but I'm digging my Brocock Bantam in .25 from AoA. Shoulders esay, swing is nice and balanced. The .25 Cal and wooden stock, with Scope (Aztec Athlon), scope rings, four tins of Pellets and shipping $1,100.00

I have a buddy with a bottle and I can Fill to 6,000 PSI nitrogen at work.

I recommend to you what I just recommended to crittahitta: a used Fx Royale Gen1, you can probably find one used on the classifieds for around $1000. An air arms s510 would also be a good choice as they are well made, beautiful guns.

If you are shooting 50-100 yds. though I say you should consider a .25 as that will surely make shooting that far easier in the wind. The thing is though you may want to at least get a regulated .25 if you plan on filling it with a hand pump. I would onsider an easy air source like a tank or compressor if your shooting anything that uses more air than a regged .25.
