I couldn't get some of your point though if your asking about An app, People use Hawke Chairgun and Strelok Pro by Igor.

Its Voodoo ... Man I wish I would have thought about using OpenCV that way that is a neat trick

That is a very nice bit of software. Well worth the $12-- I have paid for it (twice) in the past few years. Sometimes it crashes and refuses to run. It is rare but it happens. When it happens a reboot will usually put things right.
