What are people using as a target? My Impact needs a better option.

I think you'd better trun down you valve, then reduce the damage of your Impact to avoid more damage for your target.
For backyard target shooting, precise is the most important.

I have filled a cardboard bankers box I had laying around with newspaper. It’s free and stops everything I shoot at it

I can't turn it down because I need the right data for my Strelok Pro to ensure hold overs are fairly accurate. I'm currently ordering a rubber mat to lay over the new 1/4" steel plate.
I need a target that is slender to maintain the 25 yards. 
If the 1/4" steel plate doesn't hold up I'll go to a 1/2" steel plate. Or I might just bite the bullet and buy the AR500 steel plate.
Hopefully the rubber mat will absorb enough of the energy to allow the target to hold up.

I could weld together a steel bullet trap. But that would take up too much room.
So for now I'm in the R&D phase of making a durable pellet trap.

I made a 12" x 8.5" box. The back has 1/8" steel (on top of a 3/4" plywood back), then 9 lbs of duct seal, 4 pieces of carpet, then my 2 x 4s. I shoot 15-20 yards with my .22 TX200. I redid the 2 x 4s tonight (I waited too long). Instead of showing the face of the board I've turned them on edge. I'm not sure how it would hold up to your Impact though. If I were to make another I would build the box around a 1/4" plate in the back.

Here's a look at the steel sheet that was inside my target box under a 1" thick layer of duct seal.

So I upgraded it. Now I the box has a 1/2 plywood backing, 1/4" steel plate. 1/4" rubber sheet, and 1/2" thick layer of duct seal. Hopefully this target will last longer than the last one!

I use a steel trap meant for 22cal powder burners, it works great for my .25 impact.I have used it with several rifles for several years They sell them on amazon. Never had to replace it.

Yes I have one that I made just like that. The Champion rimfire target is 3/16" thick steel. My targets are 1/4". It's the square one in the back.

I needed a target that is flat to ensure I get 25 yards in my backyard.
The other box target I use for cronograph FPS.

its the angle that deflects the pellet keeping it from doing to much damage to the trap, those 34gr pellets actually move the trap they hit so hard. I must have shot 40,000 pellets into that trap only thing Ive hurt is the clothes pin type target holder.

I put the block behind it to keep it from being knocked off the block it sits on. I mostly shoot from 58yrds but i have shot it much closer.
