I see the upvote feature in the form of a “^” symbol within a circle in the center at the bottom of posts. My question is, what’s the purpose of this feature? I haven’t found any information in the threads on this feature.
Upvotes are a Reddit thing, it's just a tally of how many people find something interesting or helpful. Unsure how they will apply it here but you can do things like raise up the most upvoted comments in a thread to make them more visible. It gives you an idea of the popularity of a posting or comment.
The only trouble is, it would break the order of the "conversation" while reading.I think it could work if you a thread was made to "Poll" the post with most upvotes is at the top of the poll.
@kingsqueak Thanks for the explanation. I thought that “likes” functioned similarly. In terms of “raising posts” with a certain number of upvotes, how does that work on Reddit? Is it a member based function or an administrative one?Upvotes are a Reddit thing, it's just a tally of how many people find something interesting or helpful. It’s a member driven system. A popular post rises and an unpopular one falls down the list.@kingsqueak Thanks for the explanation. I thought that “likes” functioned similarly.
