What could it take to get more young adults into airguning?

Offer an accurate drama free sub $300 PCP that doesn't give any problems whatsoever for AT LEAST the first year and has AT LEAST a 5 year factory warranty. Any issues whatsoever during the first year manufacturers should pay round trip shipping and insurance by right that's fair at least some inconvience compensation that way for you being without the gun you paid with your hard earned money.

The other suggestion is likely considered political and can't discuss politics here.

A lot of good answers here. I agree with affordable and reliable air guns with a good warranty. Also believe not letting them play with their cell phones and video games as much. But that’s something that’s hard to do. I don’t get it with kids these days .You don’t even see kids riding bicycles as much as you used to.If It don’t have a button on it ,They are not much interested in it. Video games came out when I was a teenager and we didn’t play with them all the time. Times sure have changed. Maybe one of the things that could be done is take them camping in More secluded areas and go fishing and take a air gun with you.

Shoot balloons... ketchup packs... animal cookies. (From large easy targets progressing towards small targets.) I notice with my kids if starting off with anything too hard or complicated from a result perspective it turns them off fast.

Outside of that, start off slow to included the fun as part of a main event, i.e. picnics or bbqs.

Lastly like anything, you the adult need to continue to keep the routine going and regular.

When I was a kid, every young dude in my neighborhood had an airgun. If a bunch of young kids would have airguns now in my parents neighborhood, I’m sure they would move. Different generations with different values and consequences. I believe dad airgunners now will get their kids into it if they’re interested. No need to promote the hobby, it can’t keep up with who’s involved as it is.

Workshops or events to get people to try it. I am planning on setting one up for youth next year. In the planning phase now, then need some backing with the local conservation club (should not be an issue what so ever) then need to get sponsors or donations to get the guns and ammo and safety equipment and we are ready to roll. I think most people dont have a place to try it is the issue.. Youtube is really helping, the content creators are getting the "fun" of air guns out to all kinds of people who would otherwise not even think about trying one and getting them motivated to try it.. but you still have to go out and buy a gun and go to a range (often paying to enter) and shoot to see if you even like it. I want to be able to let all youth in my area come to a fun day of shooting, free of charge, and hopefully they have fun and their parents see that is a good hobby to get into and they can keep the sport going.
Hopefully get it set up with some BB guns at cans/clay pigeons, single shot pistols at say 10yds, break barrel rifles at 20yds, and one or two PCP at 50yds for the older kids and parents to try. Have a bunch of different fun targets out at each station, and then have a competition for everyone to enter.. maybe break barrel at 25 yards, best score wins the gun to take home. Then of course food and drinks and the like. Just a fun family day is what I am after. Hopefully we can get this worked out.

right now .. simply availabilty .. firearm ammo is hard to find and going up astronomically in price .. people will flock to airguns if affordable ones are available .. most people wont pay 2-3 grand for a fancy euro jckoff gun though .. the more desirable models are out of stock everywhere, theres 2 i want 'now' that arnt available .. and pellets are scarce on shelves also ... so yeah .. first things first ... there has to actually be products abailable to buy to get more people into it ..

More airgun/gear stores. If there isn't a store within a reasonable distance, which kid is going to figure out what's wrong with anything concerning his gear. The internet is pretty useful, but it won't replace a mentor in person helping the kid out.

It doesn't have to be a huge store, could be run out of one's garage if zoning is allowed. But having a decent variety of pellets handy, air pumps to fill tanks, some expertise on why a gun is malfunctioning would probably go a long way to generating more interest.

It will take Walmart break barrels that shoot accurately with Walmart pellets. You shouldn’t have to buy $100 worth of pellets to find the right pellet for a $100 break barrel. How many Spanish and Chinese break barrels do you think are either in the trash or in the back someone’s closet because it won’t shoot accurately with crosman pellets.
