What did i buy today?

I was at a local gun show today and came across this little beauty. After a little haggling, it came home. I've never owned anything in this arena of airguns but i've seen enough to know it was a good buy. Pristine condition blueing and lumber HW 55 T. and when i got it home, it shoots as good as it looks. Other than it is a great 10m shooter i know little else about it. It does have beeman stamped on the opposite side of the breech block. Wondering if that will tell a time frame of when it was made. Thanks for any info.

Yes crow, my picture taking abilities leave a lot to be desired. This was the last thing i was expecting to bring home. I haven't put it down yet. All my other springers are hunters so i'm not used to this smoothness. My bride wants me to name it already but i'm still in the honeymoon phase.

I've definitely tumbled down the hw 55 rabbit hole and brother, it is a deep one. What did we ever do before the internet? Trying to figure out the year of manufacture by the serial number but so far no bueno, but i know i'm just one click away for some answers.

San Rafeal production should put it between 1974-1987. Serial number is the best way to be more precise with year of production. According to some Blue Book's just 25 examples of the Beeman marked HW55's with Tyrolean stock were produced. I was lucky to find one some years ago, love it. Be careful when storing rifles that have that shape of recoil pad. If storing vertically and resting on the recoil pad it will deform over time. If you cut a piece of wood (or something similar) near the shape of the radius that allows the pad to rest on it rather than the high portions of the pad it will save the pad from compressing and becoming misshaped. I use a section of 2 x 4 just wider than the pad itself, trace the radius and shape on a belt sander. It should take all of about 5-10 minutes and will keep the recoil pad in its proper shape.

Well that was a lucky find! The HW55 Tyrolean is easily my favorite of the 55's. They don't fit everybody but if you and your gun have compatible builds, you'll love it! Congratulations!

A lot of great information here, i appreciate it. I've been a long time airgun shooter, on the yellow forum forever, different name but this hw55 is a new arena for me. I mostly hunt and pest so this is not something i would normally gravitate towards to. After coonfingering it to death and shooting it though, i can appreciate how this style of lower powered springers with beauty to match could turn into an obsession, lol. The serial numbers are 878276 , not sure what year that equates to.
My old eyes don't get along with the target sights very well, but i won't commit sacrilege and scope it. thanks again for all the information.

There are adjustable irises and other fun things that help with old eyes. Several folks on here who can help you with that. Beautiful rifle. Glad to hear it went to someone who appreciates it.

Did you find it at Medina or at Miamitown?

Chuck, i'm in nw ohio and it was a little town of new riegel. I'm not far from findlay where the flag city toys that shoot airgun show is. So that may be trouble.
