What do I need for this ...

Hi Folks, I have a 75 cu ft Omega tank with a din adaptor in it that is supposed to allow you to re-fill the tank as fast as your compressor will allow the air to come into it and at the same time it is supposed to restrict the air flow to a more manageable level when transferring air from the tank to a gun. My problem is that it doesn't restrict the flow into the gun very much ... if any at all. I mean it will go from 0 to 150 Bar in a split second when I crack the valve loose … and it is very hard sometimes to get it to break loose. Afterwards it is touch and go to get the remainder of the fill nice and slow … sometimes I will have it going slowly and then as it gets close to the max fill amount it will speed up and if I'm not REAL careful it will get away from me and go slightly beyond the level at which I wanted it to stop at. 







Was just wandering what you folks who have this same set-up use to make refilling your guns more manageable … I get tired of holding my breath in anticipation of it flying into the gun faster than I can shut it off.

Unscrew your adaptor and look inside the male DIN. If there is a black allen screw in the center, screw it in. Don't crank it down because you're probably going to back it right back out some. If that slows your air to a crawl or stops it, back it out bit by bit until you get the flow you are looking for.

Yes there is supposed to be a recessed black flow restrictor in there. It's kinda hard to see though. It takes a 2.5mm allen key to remove. I decided to leave mine in after experimenting with my set up. Look hard with bright light and magnifier and if you can't see it it was probably not installed. Hydrotech is the company that made mine and yours looks identical. The website is www.hydrotech.co.uk Bill.

Hard for me to tell from your photo. It should be in the middle of that male threaded end.

I threaded mine out where you can see it.

Perhaps it's tightened all the way in where it can't be seen?

Did your tank come with a little bag that had the O-ring and a little yellow note about the restrictor... perhaps it's in that bag?

I've had this tank about 14 months and (for the life of me) I can't remember seeing any little bag in the box, nor did I have to put in the 0-ring (it was in place already), nor did I see a yellow note. The tank came in a huge box filled with little pieces of styrofome … enough to fill up a normal size trash can ... and I looked to see if there were any instructions for the tank in there and could find nothing.



I put in every hex wrench that I had that might possibly fit in the hole and there is nothing in there, but I can see where the inside of that hole has threads in it so it is made for something to fit inside there. I called up AoA and they said that they no longer ship the tanks with a restrictor in the valve … said that they caused more trouble than they were worth. I told him that the unit was advertised in a video as having a restrictor to moderate the air flow into your gun. He said that most people who had them in their valves took them out and threw them away and anyway the micro hose was enough of a restriction to where I shouldn't need anything else. I could see I wasn't getting anywhere with that line of reasoning … I mean it WAS their advertisement and it's still up on their site … go figure!!! Methinks I'm gonna try and get in touch with Omega and see if I can get a restrictor from them … I mean my gosh, it's just a hex head screw!

Call AoA. They could probably tell you exactly what size it is and you can pick one up at the hardware store for .25¢. Minus the 4th of July sale, it might only cost a nickel!!! LOL ?

Yeah, you're right, I'll give Todd a call this morning and see if he can help me out. Not sure if he works for Omega or Raptor Pneumatics, but he can probably help me out with this or let me know the size screw to get.

Mine measures to be an M5 x 6mm.

I have had the same set up for the past year and a half. Mine didn’t come with any sort of restrictor either, and looks just like the photo above posted by @likkityspylt. There is no black Allen screw. FYI, mine doesn’t fill my guns any slower than the two 88 cubic feet SCBA tanks that I also use with an unrestricted CGA 347 rig I bought on eBay...
