Yes, you can fill through the fill station hose. I do it all the time. What is the manufacture date of the tank, and does it have a current hydro?

This setup will work for you. But you have to have your own compressor because that old tank is expired and no one will fill it for you. If you have your own compressor, then you're good to go.
One caution. Some SCBA tanks have valves that are real touchy and you can easily over-fill your gun if you're not careful. The first thing I would do after receiving that tank is to make sure the tank is empty by opening the valve to expell all the air. Then I would remove that valve and replace it with a new one that has a restrictor in it to limit the flow to manageable levels. You can get one from Joe Brancato. If not, you'll have to be very careful when filling your gun. If you opt to use the valve "as is", you should remove it anyway and at least have it overhauled.

@mason_0890, while @BeemanR7 is correct that the CGA347 valves can be a bit touchy, as long as you keep a hand on them and twist a little open, then shut, (a quick open-shut motion) and do this until you are comfortable with the fill rate things will be fine. I think buying a $229 valve from Joe B defeats the intention of saving some $$$ by purchasing a used tank and Chinese fill rig. I have either purchased or been given about ten CGA347 tank valves in the past year and a half, and have yet to get one that leaks or is too touchy to use to fill my Air Guns. These valves were/are anywhere from 4 to 16 years old, everyone of them was/is just fine for use without a rebuild. FYI, if you really do want to get a 7/8"x14 threaded valve for your tank that has a DIN300 outlet connection, you can buy one from Pyramyd Air for $89 plus shipping ($99 plus the 10% discount up top on AGN). Much cheaper for same basic valve that Joe B sells.

As was said, you can fill thru the fill adapter. You will need a male to male fitting to connect you fill hose to compressor. Also to I have 3 used tanks with the CGA 347 valve and it is easy to control the flow. Play with it a couple of times before connecting to your gun. You just slightly crack the valve open. Don't over tighten the valve when closing either. You do not need to spend extra money on a new valve. Even if the valve on your tank was bad you can by a used CGA 347 valve to replace it at a fraction of the cost of a new valve.

@Centercut it is not currently hydro tested and he does not list the manufacture date. It would have to be done through my own compressor. I know they only have a 15 year shelf life. I just want to be sure it is fade to do so.

Digital Wave does recertification of expired tanks. They do them for PA.

I have a couple guns that dont have gauges so I use the regulator on the air venturi 90 cu inch bottle. I fill the small bottle from the big one so I dont have to worry about over pressure a gun. It seems like a lot of extra steps, but it works good. So I keep the small bottle in my pack and the big one in the jeep.

@badammo that's my idea. That way I can go on a weekend with out worrying about bringing my hand pump, and use the regulator so I never over fill my gun.

For your intended use you would be better off with a 60 minute tank. Like this one.

@mr.grimm, good find, not a bad deal for $195. --- $150 tank + $15 shipping + $30 hydro (San Diego number only). Good for another 5 years service.

Masin, yes it works well, I get well over 150 shots from the little tank. I was at the range and had the little tank tethered. It worked very welql and was not in the way like rhe big tanks can be.

@ltu-013, it seems like that tank expires in two years. At least in the US it does. For dive shops to fill then they must be less that 15 years old AND have a current hydro within 5 years. Hopefully the DOT will extend service life to 30 years with only periodic hydros, but I wouldn’t hold my breath...

As I mentioned, I bought from this guy. I'm filling at the dive shop. I bought one made in 10/2003 a month ago, it means less than 15 years old. I had no trouble of getting Hydro tested, because it still had a couple months before it expires. Now it has Hydro till 08/2023. Guy who does hydro in our Dive shop told, he would fill tanks, as long as tank can pass Hydro. It means he will do Hydro test in 2023 and if it passes - it will be good for at least another 5 years till 2028. I can't complain for less than $150 I have CF tank with fresh 5 year hydro

Hell yeah, as long as the Dive Shop does it, good for you. My dive shop always looks at the "born on" date first, then the hydro if more than five years old. ;(

i would NOT touch it. if you were to have "catastrophic tank failure" it would be a bomb sending shrapnel in all directions. if you get a new tank it's good for 15 years and it is what? 400 more bucks? what is you and your associates health worth? i understand cost saving but hesitate on power sources. good luck
