Was not one of the vote choices but does any one use a tank and hand pump but NO compressor? I have plenty of local fill options and only fill maybe 3-4 times/year so no compressor.
It's only been like 4 or 5 months that I got the YH and this month is when I got the Bauer. So I before the YH I was using the two hand pumps to pump up my bottle and guns. The thing that really changed for me was air use. I started using heavier slugs in anticipation of firing to 300 yards and tuning with the large 700cc tank on the impact made waiting for the tanks to fill up a little less bearable. Of course since getting the Bauer I only filled the bottle all of one time and have been messing with my BSA ultra clx. Which has a tiny tank. And no, not pumping did not mean I became a fat slob. I was a fat slob before and during the pumping days. This is why..

That was the last version of the 2 hand pumps before I started using the YH. It had a electric on off button as well as a water separator on the high side and pressurized air with a water separator on the intake. I was going to put another hand pump on it but decided to try messing with the YH, well that did not last long either. Yeah, I get bored easily. 🙄

When air usage goes up *enough*, then a compressor makes sense... if you can afford a good one! (smile)

IMHO, most people can get along just fine with 1 or 2 hand pumps. But, the marketing in forums like this one to buy a compressor makes some people buy them when they really don't *need* them. Not to mention most people (myself included) are simply lazy. (grin)

Having said that, there may come a day when I buy a compressor. However, given the wiring in my house, it will have to be one that is either battery powered or draws low amps.

I don't care if it is slow as long as it works and does so for a LONG, long time without needing to be repaired.

So far, there is nothing that really fits that criteria for me. ($igh) (chuckle)

That is wild!! :D But, that's a compressor.. made from hand pumps.

Thanks guys but yes I guess it is just progression, as air use went up so did the demand, as well as laziness. I wanted more shooting and less pumping. I think I would have stayed with the YH and built some other type of monster, something like what bio has but 2 pumps and some type of automation involved with a auto drain and autostop, but I thought I was going to get a great deal on this bauer. So I jumped on it. It really wasn't the deal I thought it was, but it works and so far it works good.

Have a small guppie tank. Works great but it’s a pain to get it filled up so often. I’m young so if I’d do it over I’d just get a high quality pump
I used to have a Marauder, guppie and a Hill hand pump. I would turn on the TV, pump a bit, take a break, pump some more etc.etc. What the heck, I wasn’t doing anything anyway.

I should have left the voting on longer for the late comers, tank and compressor all the way, it has to be a low income thing and breathing hard trying to hold on target after using a hand pump

How hard, or how many lbs of pressure would you say it takes to pump 4000 psi?
I weigh 195lbs. The real work is about the last 3” or so of the stroke and at that point you’re leaning over it with your upper body to let it do the work. Of course your arms are feeling it because they’re locked, but it’s not like doing chin ups. If you start getting tired you can always take a break. I’ve topped off a guppy a couple times when I couldn’t get to the paint ball shop to refill it. Most times at the range I filled directly to gun.
