What got you started?

Covid happened, ammo got hard to find/ridiculously expensive so I bought a Gamo from Walmar5. Well, that thing was a turd so I went back to Walmart and bought a Gamo Magnum (obviously the first ones problem was lack of power) which wasn't much better. Then I found out about PCPs and bought a Marauder which was great. Then I bought a Dreamline which was beyond what I ever expected from an air rifle. Then I discovered high end springers and grabbed an HW97K and now I spend 3x more than what firearm ammo ever would have cost me because I'm addicted to springers. No regrets.
That pretty close to how I got started but my first PCP was a umarex gauntlet

760 pumpmaster when I was probably 10 then I went to the dark side when I bought a discovery pcp and it was down hill from there I would hate to see the dollar amount I've got stuck into it from day one
Also reminds me of a line from a song
" Glorified version of a pellet gun"
Wish I could remember the name of the song

Sorry, I'm not sure what the HWHC is.
SRG is the Silent Response Group, which was created by Mark Lemm (@napairgunner). It is a a few of us in the Pacific north west who hunt pests for farms and properties that would prefer not to use poison or firearms. We recently got together to remove ground squirrels on a ranch in northern CA. Too much fun!

I've had airguns as a kid. Then I grew up and moved to PBs. However, when squirrels tore up my wife's patio furniture in suburbia, she said, and I quote, "Get 'em"! I picked up a Daisy 880 and it sat by the backdoor for nearly a year. Then one day, my dogs treed that poor SOB and I mercilessly ended that curse-ed bastard! It took four poorly placed shots but mission completed.

Now I'm equipped with a much better understanding of good shot placement and 5 pcps, a Yong Heng and an SCBA tank along with thousands of pellets and she's got noone to blame but herself!

Squirrels in my attic! I tried trapping them which worked great except that I only ended up taking them on a 20-mile field trip before another family of squirrels eventually took up residence. I thought about poisons but quickly realized the folly of having them die inside and behind the walls. A cousin suggested the simple solution of a bb gun. I started with the trusty Daisy 880 and studied the squirrels' daily habits, noticing that they left in the early am to go forage and return around dusk to bed for the night. A few peanuts and bird seed on a nearby deck railing close to my bedroom window gave me the perfect opportunity to enact the Purge! :). Eventually a new badly needed roof repaired the soffit damage and blocked their entry. Harmony has been restored.

Thanks for enduring story time.

Footnote, the 880 is a gateway drug! I now own a Crosman 1377, Crosman Fire, Benjamin Phoenix, Hatsan Jet 2, Umarex Origin, and Umarex Notos. A bottled Zelos is on the way!

I had the classic Red Ryder as a kid but it was short lived as my neighbor accused me of shooting a window when I knew damn well I never shot anywhere near that direction. Even a ricochet would have been a miracle based on where I was shooting, the "massive" power haha of the Red Ryder and the location of the window. Always wondered if the adults were just making an excuse to take the gun away!!?? Anyway, in my teen years I had a couple buddies with pellet guns and .22 PB's and we would go plinking occasionally. Always enjoyed it.
My own airgun voyage didn't start until around 2012. I'm retired now and living in a beautiful, secluded area where I can target shoot to my heart's content. I've had never hunted before or did any pesting until my fiance started complaining that mice, squirrels, chippies, etc were gettin' into the garage and much worse, her garden. So, now I have several PCP's, compressor, tanks and pellets galore.

So, as @Wait_what said, " Now I'm equipped with a much better understanding of good shot placement" and "she's got noone to blame but herself!" LOL. She's had me pesting around the property for the last several years. Started with NV scopes and now thermal. Thermal is an absolute game changer!! Especially with mice, I see 10X as many mice with thermal than I ever saw with NV!! Love it!!
