What have you done with your airgun today?

Starlings never come to my yard😢. I only target shoot and plink in my yard. So I get a lot of gray and red squirrels and chipmunks passing through nonchalantly. If you stop shooting the squirrels they're come back. Then continue target shooting with them in the yard, let them get use to your shooting at targets. Then you can selectively eliminate the true pests doing damage and still have critters in your yard. When I'm shooting in my yard, which is often. The critters go about their business as I go about mine.

Played a little with my newest RAW today.

Seems like with all of the current back orders, if you find a used gun you want for a reasonable price, you've got to grab it. The chassis configuration would not have been my first choice, but it was available. When I received it the butt stock was even loose - I guess that the previous owner (or the air gun shop which sold it) didn't have an AR15 armorer's wrench!😉

The butt stock was O.K. to me when shooting, but it just felt like it cheapened up a nice rifle. But since it takes standard AR15 furniture, there were some relatively inexpensive options available. First photo is in OEM configuration (except I had already changed out the tiny vertical handgrip for a Magpul, which worked better for my large hands). Second is with butt stock and pistol grip revised. Color temp of the photo is a little warm, so they show up a little more brown in color than in real life. They are actually more charcoal/black pepper. I like the new look.

Tomorrow if I can get out before the rain starts, I'll see how it feels to shoot in the new configuration. I may want to keep the wood butt stock, but go back to the larger Magpul vertical grip.

Invasive fox squirrels never get a pass from me. I use to have native grey squirrels but no longer thanks to the fox squirrels. The mourning doves and golden finches already got use to my target practicing. I have a little pellet can as feeder screw right on top of my pellet box and the doves would sit on top of my pellet trap chow down while I put pellets into the target 3 inches below.

EDIT: shot 3 or 4 mags in my dream-tac compact, the gun seems to be getting better. Even in the wind I can get reasonably tight groups at 34 yards with lowly crosman pointed 7.3 grain pellets. Feels like I have been neglecting my 1720 and 1701 so shot a few dozen pellets through them too. BTW I'm still surprised by how good H&N leadfree pellets are, LASER accurate! Between the wind guests I was able to put 2-3 pellets in the same hole at 34 yards shooting at 510 FPS multiple times! Today was a good day! 😁

Not so great of a day today, my dream-tac compact’s regulator is leaking from the vent hole. Same thing happened to my last dream-tac compact or the bottle adapter, wonder if there is a sign weakness/flow with that bottle adapter. The gun is only 1 month and half old, guess I’ll be calling FX tomorrow.

Does it do it only after degassing the gun?

It seems as though the regulator O-Ring gets unseated with prolonged sitting when degassed. Not only with the Dreamline.

Well that’s very possible, I degassed the gun probably too many times messing around with it. Last one was easily fixed with just greasing the orings but this regulator Allen bolt size seems odd and feels like I’m stripping it with slightest pressure.

Unfortunately my only interaction with an air gun today will be cleaning my daughter's FWB 800X for her match at Camp Perry Saturday.

Sounds like a great day. That would e great if my son was entering a match at CP! My wishes for good luck to her and your family!

Lately, all I’ve done to my gun is envisioned what I’m going to do with it, lol. I’ve been on the phone with CHUCK for countless hours, soaking in all his awesome advice and suggestions to get the most out of an impact. As I lay in bed healing from my recent surgery, I’ve gone thru all the steps and procedures in my head countless times, so when I’m healed I’ll be ready, ha!

As far as Chuck’s accomplishments, All I can say is OMG, and I’m not going to ruin his show and tell as all discoveries were made by him thru countless, countless hours of testing and experimenting. His words-“I’ve finally reached the Holy Grail”

At least my dream-tac compact isn’t leaking anymore. Couldn’t take out the plastic regulator piston out so just squirted a bit of silicon lube into the regulator and bam, no more leak. Think @Odoyle is right that if you degas it a few times it would dry out the oring holding air in.....of course I degassed the gun at the very least a dozen times and more so pretty much self inflicted but an easy fix is just some lube to help it seal again! Simply love the FX system, making mess around with the gun too easy.....way too easy for my own good!!!🤣😂🤣

Spent the morning tuning up the new Crown Mk2 .22 GRS.

Is it me or are the new FX guns shipping from the factory in a really mild state of tune? According to the FX site, the .22 Crown should have a maximum of 54 FPE at the muzzle. When I got mine it was shooting 36 FPE. While my gun has the 600mm barrel and FX's numbers likely utilized the 700mm barrel, it still seems to me that it was delivered in a pretty anemic state. At least I was pretty easily able to bring it to 46 FPE, shooting JSB 25.39's at +/-900 fps, only taking the reg up just a little over 120 bar. The biggest PITA was that I was shooting it half the time without a stock as I was making the fine adjustments to the hammer spring.

But tuning this Crown and my Royale a couple of weeks ago (after HUMA reg install) really makes one think about how lucky we are with external tuning adjustments! I really got tired of having to take the Royale apart repeatedly to make every reg adjustment - the FX AMP and other externally adjustable regulators are such an awesome feature. And being able to easily fine tune the hammer spring of the Impact without stock removal really spoiled me!

WOW! How do you like the GRS crown? I really want one but the spec says 9.5lbs with out scope!!

Well, I didn't weigh mine 'naked' out of the box, but the first thing I remember when lifting it out of its case is "Wow, how can FX make such a light but solid laminate stock?"

And I would say that the spec you reference is incorrect. Here is mine on the scale with an Alpha 6 (26.5 oz), rings, a heavier TT 580cc bottle, and a Saber Tactical bottle mount pic rail:

A couple other things I note about the GRS stock on this gun:

1) Whereas it can look kind of chunky/blocky in photos, it is really very svelte;

2) Tool-less adjustability of comb and LOP are handy;

3) Really comfortable grip and thumb up-and-around position leads to very good stability;

4) Likely the most comfortable & stable stock I have ever used on any gun.

Not all is perfect though:

1) Seems to me like they didn't allow the black stain to penetrate the wood deep enough, so when the laminate was shaped there was some light/white bleed-thru on the black bands (could just be my specific stock).

2 The reach from the grip to the trigger is long. Works fine for me, but I have long fingers. Trigger position is adjustable back, but I'm not certain if there is enough adjustment for folks with shorter fingers. Something to check out before you buy one.

In the end, I really love this stock.
