Thanks to anyone who reply’s! I was just wanting to know from someone who does that kind of thing. I’m not planning on actually going iguana hunting, so I’m just curious.
What is a good air gun caliber for hunting iguana’s?

.22 is fine with well placed head shots but a .25 I've noticed makes a good shot in to a great shot especially with the big boys.

When it comes to a .22 cal pellet that is fired out of a air rifle that shoots up to 1,000 FPS. Should I use average weight pellet’s (14-15 gr) or heavy pellet’s (18-25 gr)?

Slapahondn, does .25 cal pellet’s achieve higher velocity’s and longer kill range's than .22 cal pellet’s?

My 22 and 25 shoot around 900 fps. They are extremely accurate at those speeds. I've been using jsb hadies mostly.

JSB Hades are like 18 grains and I used the JSB Monsters (25 gr) out of my Gamo rifle that shoots to at around 900 fps and they drop like 1 inch at a very short distance. I also shoot 15.4 gr Gamo Red Fires out of my rifle and they shoot a lot more accurately. Do you think I shouldn’t use the JSB Monsters in my rifle?

I shot a .22 cal Gamo Red Fire out of my rifle into dirt and it went 1 3/4 inch and went from 5.5 mm in diameter to 7mm in diameter. So I’m definitely gonna run those in my gun for my first future rat hunt.

At 20 yards ( my normal plinking distance) I shot 10 pellets from my rifle with the Gamo Red Fires and they had a good 1 inch group.

I use .22 caliber and have now taken down a few very large males. Shot placement is paramount.

Sorry I have to show this from @intenseaty22, sub12 177 cal Daystate Revere using the Precision Ballistics 177 Mako slug. Distance is 30ish yard. I know this puts the power etc on its head. Right tool and shot placement for the job, is the more of the story.

Here you go and I used them in an FAC rated Brocock compatto and they passed clean through pigeons and doves at a 60 yards. The slug in the Brocock at muzzle 15.1 fpe.

I’ve been testing out several brands of .22 cal pellets to see accuracy and penetration and I’m sad to hear those aren’t .22 cal as well.
