Tuning What is a good FPS for a .25 Taipan Veteran long w/JSB exact king?

IMO depends on what you want to do with your gun. For hunting or target shooting, 960 fps is way to fast for .25 cal pellet but I've read some have shot at that speed in .177 and still have great accuracy. I normally tune all my guns around 880 fps for an all around speed but if I know one gun will only used for hunting, I shoot for 910 to 915 fps. I'm ok with sacrificing a little bit of accuracy for a flatter trajectory. If I have a gun just for target shooting, I tune the gun about 850 to 860 fps. A loopy trajectory is ok if you know exact distances for each target.

I like paper and targets but there's this one woodchuck that keeps eluding me....... I will try the fps you mentioned and see how the pellet likes it. Thanks!

I use my 25 long for pesting mostly, I’ve tried the jsb king also the MK1 and Mk2, the Vet shots them very well but I would suggest to try the NSA 29.5g @935fps, man they are super accurate and hit hard, specially squirrels, since i start using this NSA I haven’t had any runners, they all DRT!

Thanks! I'll look into those! I must add, I don't think there is anything wrong with my gun, in fact it's very nice, I'm just looking to learn more about it. I want to know what it likes and does not like so I can get the most out of it along with knowing what changes will do what etc.

A while back I set my Cricket @ 880-890 for the 25g and i could tell it was a good speed for accuracy and shot count, but later i up the speed to 915fps and I noticed a slight improvement @50 yards but the groups @100 improved considerably.

the Veterans are great guns, super reliable and easy to work on, just take your time and try different pellets, one thing for sure is your gun might not like what my gun likes, even if they have the same settings.
