What is better than my Texan .257 or FX M3 .25 cal for 300 yards and beyond?

The limit with big bores is the need for booster pumps operating at 4500psi. As.far as subsonic power we are
pretty much there. 30cal 200 grain plus 900fps and 50 cal 625at900 fps. Add helium get 30 percent more power. I have no personal experience with African Air Ordinance upgrades. My personal Texan TX2 valve 50 eats up shear pins. So the platform may need upgraded to withstand current power levels let alone more. I'm glad its possible to achieve this amazing ballistics number from air or helium power. The tanks compressors and boosters pumps are setup for the new scott5500 psi tanks. We need to move forward to 5500 psi tanks regulated to 4500 psi for big bores.

I'm running 100% stock .257LSS. I'm ready for any recommended upgrades from the membership
There is no need for upgrades .. 1-14 ability to stabilize bullets for really long shots stops at 85g and those only if they are the Nielsen old BT .. for 85g you have power enough. It will do good with 90gr+ but not for long range.. that is why you will only hear in the airgun world. 257= to 257-420..or 257-420 BT .. when there is lots of different molds but they are between 85gr × to 105gr .. eventually you could change your barrel for a faster twist.. and go after the 257-418 -- rcbs 257-100 or the noe 257-105 spizer..

Not many choices. Texans have there faults but are the most powerful with heavy slugs. There is sort of cool pcp like the Vulcan3 from Urgan . Slings moderate weight slugs with grace. Less power more ease of shooting. I'd put a regular stock on your Texan. The ultimate30 cal is the Texan with African Air Ordinance Value. It will sling the 230 grain high b.c lee mold .6 B.C at around 900-1000fps. Might be better with custom 30 cal 8 twist barrel. .6 bc at 1000 fps is tops for airgun ballistic for now... I think....
If I manage to put my hands in a Doug 308 texan valve .. I put my big boy pants n go for a buid ..😁

I sold my 257 Texan because since it was short of twist.. for shooting 75gr to 85gr that I could doit with me condor... and sold the 308 because the bullets I wanted to shoot were in the 150gr+ and the factory valve will not hold heavy hammering at 3500psi for to long...n there was no way to have one custom made.. so I switched the effort to 224 .. since I have been purchase 3 of the Doug condor valves ..if you manage to get one of Doug 50cal valves, you be trouble free..

I am intrigued by 300 yard shooting with an airgun. Though I have shot for fun at 1000 - 2000 yards and beyond for decades using 50 BMG bolt guns and 338 Lapuas, 100 yards seems extremely far for me at this point with an airgun, having just moved from a couple of Diana 54s to several PCP guns. My Umarex Gauntlet 30 that cost me the same as just a barrel kit for an FX M3 and has a 4500 psi bottle with the regulator set at 2800 PSI, will push a 64 grain NOE cast HP over 1000 FPS and will put 6 of them into a single hole at 20 yards. I am waiting for some warm weather to try 50 and 100 yards. Now I want an airgun that will perform at 300! Thanks a lot!..

I know nothing about the Texans. What is it about them that allows them to produce higher velocity with heavy slugs than any other airguns out there?

34" barrel .. big ported in line valve .. air goes directly from the bottle to the bullet.. no angles no transfer ports.. all that power at 3000 psi .. at 3400 psi insane power.. with a 30" barrel at 3,100 psi I do 150fpe+ in .22 caliber . The new barrels will be 33" long... in your tube a few years ago there is a retired gentleman that took the airforce hobby to another level his channel.. Very big rifle.. you could see him hit 2 liter soda bottles..with a 457 custom texan .. and steel with his 257 Condor .. at 1000y repeatedly.. now somethings that I would like to see in the next-gen airforce guns..
1 - lower scope rail by making the gun a side cocker.
2 - picatinny scope rail
3 - wider barrel bushings
4 - better design cocking level on the texan with a higher tolerance machining..
Oh and # 5 if they find a a way to do all that in a 40" bullpub .. game changer..🙃
6 - please use timey triggers.

I think the Texan 257 is the best answer for beyond 300 yards these days.

In 2013 I used a Haley 257 Scandlous to shoot 12 oz cans at 500-550 -615 yards and made utube videos of the shots.

My 257 lssTexan duplicated the performance of the Haley.

For me .. what I really want is to be able to stabilize 105g in 257 .. that's why I paid for 2 barrels to be made at tj in 1-8 and 1-9 for 257 .. also almost finished my 224 condor..for up to 65g pills.. since I have molds in 50g - 55g - 60+g .. 3 barrel has been paid for testing.. 1-8.5 _ 1-9.5 _ 1-10.5 ..in 218-224..
105 gr 257 cal the bc should up there a ways for it

The answer for accuracy in 300y + is using bull barrel is being proven a few times there ar only 2 down sides one we still don't know what twist will do perfect with 100gr to 105 gr in 257 and the second a machinists that has the time n talent to work it .. is easier to find a machinists that could work on a tj.
