I fully understand that 10m shooting is discipline and an Olympic sport in itself, but I personally just find it boring. I like targets that spin, splatter or ring when I hit them and while paper is essential for sighting in a gun and determining its accuracy, to me it’s still just something that I do so that I can move on to the plinking targets that I prefer and I just don’t find those to be challenging with a rifle unless they’re in motion. For those used to shooting from a bench with a good rest, 10 meters seems to be ho-hum boring.
For a bit of fun try hitting a small spinner at 10 meters shooting off-hand. Most will find it challenging to make five consecutive hits. If you find it easy, go to a smaller target or hang the target from a string to move in the breeze.
I enjoy bench shooting for accuracy and small groups but always resort to off-hand plinking when I want a challenge.
Cheers!
For those of you who like it, more power to you. It just doesn’t keep me entertained for very long. And I shoot all the time at 10m or less outdoors, but indoors where there’s no breeze, your target area is only maybe 2’x2’ and you’re shooting on a flat plane without any change in elevation it just seems like practice rather than fun.
