Hi guys. Wen your shooting at difrrent distances is the a certain zoom you shoot at. Like if your gun is zeroed for 50m wat zoom do u use. Then if you shoot a target at 100m wat zoom will you use ??? Thanx guys
My UTGs are almost always set to 10x, and my Hawkes set to 20x (that's where the mildots work on my optics). If using a FFP (first focal plane) optic...doesnt really matter zoom and shoot away. On an SFP (second focal plane) optic, usually the manufacturer will say what the optic's zoom should be set at for the mildots to be accurate.
24X from 20 yards out. High magnification is awesome because most of what we shoot at is small. If you shoot with both eyes open shooting at 24X at closer ranges is no big deal because target acquisition is easy.......with both eyes open. At least it is for me.
I usually shoot 16x for two of my guns (Tactic and Cricket), and 10x for my s510. Cricket and Tactic out to 125 yards and as close as 25 15 yards. The s510 i shoot from 10 yards to 50 yards.
Drid, I also shoot at 12 power but not because of a fixed power scope. Just remember your crosshairs will always be on at any power but your mil dots won't. On 12 power mag one dot below crosshair may be 65 yds but on 16 power mag one dot down will be different. This is the reason I stay at 12 & keep my range card with me.
generaly, i like enough power to see my pellet holes. however sometimes i use the power change to move poi vertically. lower power shoots higher. the longer the range, the more the power affects poi. im not shure which focal plane this is but its the one thst most of us seem to have. the other one doesnt change poi with power change.
