What Paper Target Did You Shoot Today

Thomas, keep in mind that I shot this two handed grip. In National Match we shoot one hand strong side with arm fully extended. Weak hand goes in pocket or belt. No groups with that type shooting - the goal is to get as close to one hundred points as possible in each stage. I will only be practicing slow fire - 10 shots with 100 points max score. I'm really pleased with the Weihrauch and the trigger.

Hello again @rsfrid

Non-the-less, that is dang good shooting with a pistol. It tells me that the new HW is deadly accurate, you are going to have a hoot all winter with that set up.

Had a little fun at my private range shooting an EBR paper target at 100 yards with my Daystate Red Wolf GP .177 HP with the 28” / 711 mm prototype slug barrel from LW 👍🙂🎯❤️

Well, with winter right around the corner and highs in the 50s it’s time to basement shoot. Today I set up my new 22cal HW44 so I can practice National match. I moved one of my Ultra Dot Matchdot sights from a powder burner over to this pistol and readjusted the dot for 7yds. I was shooting 50feet with 22cal powder burner. I cheated and did two hand hold so I could be sure of its zero and shot full 10 shot clip.

So now on to National Match practice (sort of) but at half the distance, because that's what I have. Oh, the trigger is about 3-4 ounces! So I have to be real careful.
Ross, a most excellent card with your new HW44 .22! Give me a pistl and I am LOST....😂👍

First target in National Match practice. 10 shots, slow fire, one hand extended. HW44 22cal and JSB 15.89 pellets sorted and lubed. This is a pretty heavy pistol to be one handing at full arm extension.

Hello @rsfrid

Well that is some fine off-hand shooting with 4 shots in the 10-Ring (y) (y) (y) . Although the HW looks so well balanced with the Scope and Moderator , that is quite a bit of weight extended to full arms length.

I have never shot this target in competition so are you in a time limit and are you allowed to lower your pistol after each shot?

Hello @beerthief

The problem with me practicing for a couple of more years is that I would get OLDER than I am now and my shaky hands would most likely get worst :( .

Thomas, yes there is a time limit - it varies by stage. The slow fire is most generous with as much as 20 minutes to fire all ten rounds. Timed courses are much faster and don't lend themselves to single shot air pistol. During slow fire stage, yes you can lower your arm, and you should in order to maintain arm strength for entire course. Give it a try. If you purchase targets from Amazon look for NRA B-2 targets "50 foot slow fire”

i am in my 80th year , not bad for this age , but at any age i do not think i could hold a pistol at arms length like i watch the Olympians do . Iam sure if we could see down their sights it would be a different picture , but Damm they sure look rock study .
I'll be 81 in February and I say no excuses. Practice every day shooting as well as holding an 8 pound dumbell out at arms length for as long as possible. Read up on Army shooters practice routines. Aiming is very different from stationary benchrest. With this shooting, the shooter must accept that the dot will be moving all over the place and must learn to time trigger pull for when the dot just enters the center of bull. There are lots of on line articles on technique.
