What Paper Target Did You Shoot Today

05:16 here and i have been up for a hour now, i am so going shooting later on, and hopefully get 3-4 hours in before the + 1-2 deg C temperature drop below 0 again.
Probably not going to mess with paper again, also weather not super nice in regard to gust wind speeds.

Amazed i fall asleep earlier, the norm are more like now i will have been in my bed for 4-5 hours tossing and turning and doing that for another 4-5 hours before i would fall asleep around noon.

Maybe i should try and go to bed early more often CUZ i went to bet at 9 in the evening and was asleep by 11 or so.

Shot these two cards for another contest and thought I'd share them here as well.

It’s a windy day here, but I wanted to practice shooting through a scope with both eyes open.
Air Arms S200 177 12fpe
Air Arms 10.3 gr
Discovery fixed 6x
30 yards

I caught a good consistent wind with the right target top left. The bull to the right was changing to FX 10.3 gr. I had some issues with an old magazine with that one, I’m guessing I have to replace the o ring that holds the pellet.

The right target was sighing in before the 30y challenge target, then some shots after

Hello everyone,

Cold, overcast and windy so I elected to do all of my shooting indoors today. I am so impressed with this little Pistol every time that I shoot it. When I was loading some magazines I had set aside about 30 “bad” pellets in the lid of a Tin. These were not real bad but had some sort of bent or damaged skirt. I decided it was time to shoot them and this was going to be one of my “warm up” paper targets. All but two of the shots were completely inside the 10-Ring, not too bad for some damaged pellets :p.

Range: Indoors at 15-feet
Pistol: .22Cal Custom PP-800 R Pistol/Carbine w/full Buck Rail AR Conversion
Scope: UTG Bug Buster 3-9x32
Pellets: AA Accuracy Plus 13.43gr
FPS: 429
FPE: 5.5
Position: Bench w/ TPR Front and rear Bag

Thomas that is one BAD (good) looking target especially for damaged pellets. That kind of echos what I have experienced with some of my bad pellets. Most bad ones shoot no different than good ones but once we see them, it kind of gets in our heads.

Please post a picture of your pistol and set up when you have a chance.

It's just great when a pistol shoots so well you don't have to sort pellets. Just grab and go. Great looking card, @ThomasT

Hello @igolfat8

Tim, I have in the past had such bad luck with "damaged pellets" shooting paper targets and blow a perfect score when a flier scores an 8. Today I don't pre-sort pellets but do set aside some that have a noticeable bent skirt when loading into a mag. I was so surprised today to shoot this card.

This is the Pistol that I put together from a pile of parts that I custom ordered.

It resembles a Bandit. Thanks for posting your picture.
Hello again @igolfat8

It is an un-branded receiver, regulator, with a custom length barrel, custom / modified misc internal parts, threaded end protector, and Buck Rail AR Conversion parts.

I tested lubes today through my Taipan Veteran Standard using unsorted, straight from the tin, AA18s for the first 4 cards. Last card was with JTS 16 and 18’s. Found that HBN caused heavy leading even after a thorough barrel cleaning, HBN mopped barrel and HBN coated pellets. None of the other lubes left any lead deposits and the third patch was always white with all of the lubes. The Napier lube showed the darkest (2) patches but the 3rd patchwas white.

Hello @igolfat8

Well it looks like the Taipan shoots all of those pellets / conditions pretty dog-gone good. That is a LOT of very good shooting on your part also (y) (y) (y)

Thanks Thomas. That was a lot of concentration to hurl 500 pellets downrange in one setting. But hey, its winter with not much else to do.

I really like those targets ..i used to shoot that one all the time.
It takes a TON of paitence to shoot 100... but 500!!!! That's a session!!
I started to shoot them again, but only with 1 bag as support.
Been using my front/rear rest too much and have lost a bit of control.
i flinch a bit and need to calm my breathing...these targets are great from getting discriminating.
Thanks for reminding me about these.
I have been finding that with the HBN, the barrel needs to be extremely clean to start. I thought my barrels were clean, but after a scrub with a nylon and brass brush, i was kinda shocked by how much more was in the barrel.

Hello everyone,

Had some business in town this morning so I am getting a late start shooting paper targets. But beautiful blue sky with a bit of wind I just had to set up outdoors on the 10-Meter target. Shot more of the bent skirt pellets and they didn’t shot as well in the Stormrider as in the Pistol.

Range: Outdoors at 10-Meters
Pistol: Diana Stormrider Gen2, .22cal with regulator
Scope: Vector Optics Tourex 6-24x50 FFP
Pellets: AA 13.43gr
FPS: 787
FPE: 18.47
Position: Bench with TPRR
