What Paper Target Did You Shoot Today

The stripper was purchased from Pyramid Air and is caliber specific. Hatsan makes strippers in 177, 22, and 25 cals. It is a frame that screws onto the end of the threaded barrel and has a brass cone that is adjustable. I just screwed it onto the end of the Atomic where a moderator would go. I do not use a moderator. I tried one, but it didn't help with accuracy and only quieted the report. Since I am indoors in basement with shooting ear muffs, I don't care about noise. Hatsan says that it won't work with a shrouded barrel, but it sure does with my Atomic. Perhaps the "shroud" on the Atomic is not truly a shroud? I started trying one with my RAW, but never finished tuning it. For the stripper to be effective, you have to tune it by starting with cone all the way toward muzzle and move out a couple mm at a time, shooting a few groups at each setting. Once you have a "node" where groups are tight, then move the cone 1 mm at a time back and forth to fine tune groups.

Thanks for the info Ross. I ordered one to experiment with on my Atomic. I have the external hammer spring adjuster on my Atomic and today I noticed the assembly was really loose on mine. I’ll have to tear into it and see what has loosened up.

That could be an issue. Mine is snug.

It should have come with a single shot tray. It works easier than the flip style Carm loaders in my experience, at least in the Avenger.
On this I disagree. The single shot loader can be finicky for older fingers like mine or Thomas'. The Carm loader is a piece of cake and loads the pellets straight on flawlessly. Just my opinion.

Hello @igolfat8

It sure did and I just gave it a try. My problem is getting a pellet under the scope and into that little slot. My ole shaky hands are a problem.

Hello everyone,

I received a new Air Venturi Avenger Gen I, .22cal rifle today just after lunch and spent a good amount of time cleaning the barrel and lubricating all the moving parts. Tim @igolfat8 had alerted me about the barrel on his Avenger was really dirty and to not shoot unit it was super clean.

I set up a warm up target out at 10-Meters and shot two mags ( 10 rounds each ) and also zeroed in the scope at the same time. The wind is blowing so hard, 20 to 25 mph, that I was not expecting a brand new rifle with only 20 rounds down the barrel to shoot two Perfect 200 Points scores, but here are my paper targets for the day 😁 .

I think that I might have found myself a keeper for shooting 10-Meter targets. I’m really looking forward to doing some chronograph work and testing of various pellets.

Range: Outdoor 10-Meters
Rifle: Air Venturi Avenger Gen I, Regulated, .22 caliber
Scope: Vector Optics, Tourex 6-24x50 FFP
Pellets: JTS Dead Center 16.08gr
FPS: ?
FPE: ?
Wind: 20 to 25 mph

Hello everyone,

Cold morning but with blue skies and no wind so I was able to shoot some paper targets before the super bright Sun got right into my window. I will be able to shoot more later and hopefully the wind will not pick up. I pulled a cleaning patch through the barrel and to my surprise it was spotless, this is after almost 200 pellets.

You got a keeper there @ThomasT
Hello @igolfat8

I sure hope you are correct, it sure is shooting good for a new rifle. The two "not so pretty" hits on the first target are all on me and not the rifle :( . I really like the factory setting on the trigger, not the lightest but very crisp.

That has potential Thomas. Hope it does as well at 25yrd.
JTS is living up to their name with this rifle!
Hello @manabeknives

I'm shooting the JTS because they are the only 16gr that I have in stock but they are shooting good. I don't want to switch to other pellets for a while, would like to get at least 500 rounds down the barrel before I start testing others. If I have no or light winds later on today I will shoot some 25-yard targets.

Hello everyone,

Was able to shoot one 25-Yard MOA target but the wind has picked up to 5 to 10 mph and it really got me on that fourth line. All in all not too bad for a new rifle and the light weight pellets, this will surely do better with 18gr when I start shooting them.

Hello @Ranchibi

Thank you, I am really having a blast with this new rifle, what a pleasure to take a new gun out of the box and be able to shoot it ..... who ever heard of that  . I am just about to hit pellet 500 down the barrel with only a few left in the second Tin, and it's coming around  .

It is so beautiful here ( except for the wind ) I am forced to keep shooting.

Hello again everyone,

As I had just stated to Randal @Ranchibi , crystal clear blue skies, 65 degrees / f, and a little wind that actually feels great. So too much wind for my brain to shoot 25 yards, and the answer is move in to 10-Meters and keep on shoot-n 😁:D😂 . As you can see, the wind really messed me up and I touched the line a couple of times 🤩
