What Paper Target Did You Shoot Today

Hello everyone,

Spent most of the morning working on another project in my shop with a window and door open to a Spring like day. Couldn’t stand it any longer so I shot several different targets with various pellets.

The first card I tried some JSB 13.43gr suggested by @Ranchibi , the top two lines and they shot pretty good.
The second two lines I used JTS Dead Center 16.08gr and they also shot pretty good.
The last line I used Crosman 14.3gr and they shot as good as the other two.

So on the next card I figured it was time to shoot some JSB Jumbo Heavy 18.13gr ( straight from the bad Tin ) and they shot well enough to get a 200 Points score.

Looks like the Avenger is not real picky about the pellet, and that is a good thing 😁 (y) .

Range: Outdoor 10-Meters
Rifle: Air Venturi Avenger Gen I, Regulated, .22 caliber
Scope: Aztec Emerald 5.5-25x50 FFP
Pellets: See cards
FPS: ?
FPE: ?
Wind: 2 to 5 mph

I tried my Crosman Custom Shop 2300KT with the 10" LW barrel and Hawke AirMax scope on this target from the bench at 10 yards. After a mediocre performance I wondered how much worse I would do with my cheap 1377 with $40 Winchester 4X scope. So, I decided to shoot the same target and see which one did the best on each bull. I had trouble getting zeroed with it and just ended up holding off. I also turned the first bull into an extra sighting target. The big surprise was in 23 of the 25 bulls the best shots were from the cheap gun.

Hello @sjs

You just never know what rifle is going to surprise you with a great card :)

Mike, Better keep an eye on your pipe. Any lead shot over 900 FPS will likely lead your barrel up quickly, if shot without lube.
Yes!..I did notice how dirty the barrel was after the session was over. I keep mine as clean as a drinking straw.
I just gat another regulator from Martin set for lower power. I'll try to get it installed and get the speeds down to 880-890.
I'd rather have 2 regulators so if the new Grands work out, i can switch the regs and be high power again.
I do need to put some lube on them ..any lube that was on them has dried up years ago
Thanks Tim

Yeah...these come as 50ft/lb guns in .22 tuned from the factory, reg is usually around 140 bar in .22. I do not know what my reg is set at as Martin tuned mine for 18gr @ 970. Spare parts are a good thing to have on hand!
Hi Randy
Martin sent me a care package so i can lower the speeds for 18.13g pellets. And some springs!!!! YAY

Looks like the 18.13 are still the favorite food of the Avenger. Still holding it's accuracy at 25...Nice!!
Nice Test Thomas

Good Morning all
I shot these 2 yesterday, but didn’t have the time to post them. I am having Night/Day difference with the18.13 JSB pellets over the 25.39. Received another regulator from Martin so I can lower the FPS a little bit. The rifle is firing well, but I know it’s too hot if I run into windy conditions..
IT’S COMING TOGETHER
All that testing of new projectiles when I had the right one”s in my closet the whole time:rolleyes:
Now, need a rifle to use up all those slugs:ROFLMAO: and MRDls:mad:

Haven't posted any cards in a few. I've been replenishing my supply of sorted 15.89 22cal for my Atomic. Sorting is tedious. So befoe getting back at it this morning, I decided to sling some lead so I don't get out of practice.

Back at 50 for more practice. One thing I just noticed on these targets. It say that 200 is a perfect score, but there are 24 targets :ROFLMAO: So I will score from 240. I didn’t “lead-up” the barrel on the first target and it shows. The results on second target are much more consistent than the first. This is getting fun again:LOL:

Nice shootin' at 50! I'm going to be trying the JTS 22.07 at the same factory settings as Martin had for the 25.39 which shoot at about 960fps. I figure I'll be around 1000fps or a bit under. I have heard several that got excellent results with this combo in their HM1000x.

I look forward to seeing how the JTS 22.07 does in your tests.
I have been seeing a 15-20 fps increase per grain decrease, so you should be above 1000fps..sizzle, But could still work
I am trying not to buy more pellets till the new releases ...trying
