What Paper Target Did You Shoot Today

Hello everyone,

Shot the first four targets aiming dead center with no adjustment to the Red Dot Scope or any compensation to correct the POI. That is 20 pellets within 5/16" of an inch. Made 4 clicks “up” on the Scope and shot the fifth target with a center to center spread of .3165". I am getting more comfortable shooting this Pistol and set up every time I shoot it.

Range: 15 - Feet Indoors
Pistol: Diana Bandit .177 caliber modified w/Buck Rail AR Conversion & Grip
Scope: Hawkeye Red Dot
Pellets: H&N Sport 8.18gr Wadcutter
FPS: 475
FPE: 5.9
Position: Bench with Bipod and rear Bag

My friend just got a snowpeak M30

After dealing with the " frosting " of its Chinese ( copious amounts of some grease everywhere like from the outside of it to its insides )
The thing seem to shoot pretty fine, even if we have not yet worked on shot string flatness or speed, but yesterday i brought him some stuff to try ( 8.5gr lead free and 10 gr Zan slugs )
And wouldn't you know shooting the 10 gr Zans which my rifles do not favor, the M30 was making black marks on a steel plate at 120 M pretty damn close to each other.
the 10 gr JSB ko MK3 however did not seem to perform as well as the Zans, which is funny CUZ in my rifle it is the other way around.
Now i am not so eager getting his shots strings flatter and maybe better performing rifle, CUZ the M30 is a lot lower price than for instance my Two.

This also with stock speed around 900 fps, it might actually get even better i fear, bur for now i will leave his regulator where it is and just work the hammer spring adjuster, CUZ it seem to be OK speeds to get rid of his bulk of 10. something pellets.

Also wonder if when he is done tearing into his 10 grain pellet stash, if we are able to bump it up to 13 grain slugs and pellets

Hello everyone,

Shot this warm up target to empty a couple of the magazines that had some Crosman pellets and then switch to JSB. I rezeroed the Scope as I shot the main targets with the JSB.

I had set up the Baby Monitor Camera next to one of the shop windows viewing the Bird Feeders and I had the Monitor on the Bench next to me.

So if you score the target you might say that I still needed to do a bit more adjustments to the Scope. However there are a couple of “locals” 🐿️ that would strongly disagree with you .

Range: Indoors at 15-Feet and outdoors at 30-Feet
Pistol: .22Cal Custom PP-800 R Pistol/Carbine w/full Buck Rail AR Conversion
Scope: UTG Bug Buster 3-9x32
Pellets: Crosman Domed Ultra Magnum 14.3gr and JSB 15.89gr
FPS:
FPE:
Position: Bench w/ Front & Rear bags and standing

Hello everyone,

This morning I removed the Red Dot Scope from the Bandit and installed the Hawke Vantage 2-7x32 reticle scope to shoot some Competition paper targets. The rear bag support is still the weakest link in my set-up as it does not give me a precise adjustment for elevation.

Hello @Ranchibi

Yep a reticle scope surely will ( or should ) help a lot with group size. As I had stated, my biggest problem is with the Rear Bag not allowing me to be more precise on the elevation. However, I am now working on building a new design that I have created that will allow me to have complete control of the "elevation" and "windage" and still use a Rear Bag. It should be completed and ready to use in the morning :D

How do you aim your Red Dot's?
Point of aim at 12:00 of the dots circle, with POI at the top of the dot?
That is the only way I have found to get precision out a dot.

Hello @.20calguy

It is most likely my poor vision but I do not see a clean "round" dot when I am shooting paper targets. I do at distance like when shooting a squirrel outside at 30 feet. Shooting at paper targets here in my shop at 15-feet I see more like a flare or mini star burst. My Red Dot scope has a 2mm DOT and I have learned where the "center" is and aim that "spot" at dead center of a 10-Ring. Hope this will help.

I shoot bottle caps, shot shells, CO2 carts, etc, at 30 yards from a bench rest. So I had to adapt, and that was my instinctive aim, just like aiming the brass bead on my lever action. My dots are reflex type and just happen to have a set of ridges that are the likness of a rear sight to line it all up. I imagine that my eyes would be like yours on close range paper. They are rapidly getting worse these days.
