What Paper Target Did You Shoot Today

Only shot a couple of targets today with the old RWS 45. I lightened the trigger a bit and a couple of the shots got away a little quicker than I anticipated 😁 I think once I get used to it I might be able to turn in some better groups. This old rifle is pretty “lively” in the hands but I still like the old girl. She doesn’t shoot like the 300S but it’s a lot easier to hold off hand for me. Here’s 5 off hand. I promise I’ll get better 😁

I tested lubes today through my Taipan Veteran Standard using unsorted, straight from the tin, AA18s for the first 4 cards. Last card was with JTS 16 and 18’s. Found that HBN caused heavy leading even after a thorough barrel cleaning, HBN mopped barrel and HBN coated pellets. None of the other lubes left any lead deposits and the third patch was always white with all of the lubes. The Napier lube showed the darkest (2) patches but the 3rd patchwas white.

Impressive shooting to say the least.
Can you tell me what kind of rear sights you are using; open, scope, peep, etc?

Thanks

I’m using an Athlon Talos 6-24
I asked because it is impossible for me to come anywhere close to your results with a traditional rifle scope and mount. Best I can muster up are 1/4" groups on a good day. This is why I use hand gun scopes/ scout mounts on all my pumpers. With this set-up I use the turret caps to true-up the cross hairs and it works surprisingly well...an example attached.

I looked up your scope and its impressive. Guess I've been living in a cave for far too long. Is it safe to assume your style scope eliminates much of the guess work I'm using with the scout mount?

Yes, good shooting on the cards and off hand. I’ve never heard of your gun you used to shoot the cards with? Tell us more about it please.
Thanks Tim. The rifle I used is a Philippine made GCMAG MAGNUM Gen 2 with a GF1000 (23.5”)barrel made by Gilbert Felipe. The rifle can be configured to shoot from .177-.25 by just swapping barrels with a 16mm OD. Right now my unit is setup for benchrest but the stock can be changed to a sporter stock for hunting.

Btw, give my regards to Joe Polanco, Tim Swan and Ryan Spanagel when you see them.

Wouldn’t you know it, i shot some paper today, not with laser accuracy CUZ it was at distance ( 75 M / 82 Y ) 13gr Zan slugs

The green circle or what is inside it i shot first, then a made a small down adjustment on the regulator and tried to shoot four 5 shot groups, and that kinda ruined it for me. At this time the chrono was on my friends rifle.
The 3 red X are shots with poop reg setting aimed at the middle, so abandoned that very fast.
At least with the good tune i just murdered that black dot, almost took out the entire 10 circle.

But not ashamed so i still remembered to snap a picture before i went home.

I / we also learned that at 125 yards my Two do shoot 10 grain Ko slugs better then my friends SP M30,,,,, a lot better, though TBH i do recall having shot better groups, but very lucky with the wind today ( 0 of it ) so can not pull that excuse out of my behind, and my speeds ought to be as good as it get.

Also my friend learned to tweak his M30, it shot 13 gr slugs at <900 FPS, and not very good i might add, bumping regulator made him hit 960 FPS but uneven shot string. so at my request he added a little hammer to the mix and wouldn’t you know he had a flat line again, and about 970 FPS.

That speed did also work better for him, but clearly the M30 is not in the league of my Two rifle.

I shot three shots per target from 15 feet seated on a bucket with a bipod.
Shooting my new to me Daisy 853. The problem is I can only really see the white ten hole reflecting back and when I knock or hit it the center goes away.

I’m going to change targets and front sight so there is a slight white ring around the target. That way I don’t need the bullseye center to aim. But for a first time out I like the groups.

Nice shooting. It looks like you got a good rifle. May I suggest that you just shoot one shot per bull? I shoot 1/4” circles and try to put my pellet in the center of the circle without touching the line. You can easily make your own and print on your computer.

I will do that. I just feel kinda wasteful. Sill really.

I love those 100 shot targets, and i was going through them like one a day
Until i realized i was spending $7 in pellets on the targets
I cut it back to 2 a week;)
If you shoot one a day , don't spend money on lunch , call it "diet shooting . "
