What pistol did you shoot today

This Schofield came with a .177 rifled barrel and was advertised for both BBs and pellets. I've only ever put pellets through it. There's also an optional .22 barrel which I got for some future fiddling. It's certainly no match gun but quarter-sized groups at 10 yards isn't bad for a lookalike.
All metal. Heavy. Pretty nice fit & finish. Smooth trigger.

HW45 .177 cal. Sweet gun. Bought used in summer. View attachment 534800
HW75 .177 cal. This gun should be used to describe the word smooth. View attachment 534801Love the operation. Crow
HW45 is a keeper 👍. Everyone who says it’s a challenge to master is right, but so worth it. If I don’t maintain a proper grip, it’ll let me know right away. Powerful shooter, kicks hard, accurate, … great stuff!

I shot the Daisy 717 today @ 28 yards, testing, zero and plinking. So far I don't see any disadvantage in accuracy over the 747's Walther barrel. 👍View attachment 534945
Ahh! I thought these were FWBs at first glance. Similar lines (to me, anyway). FWB side levers open towards the rear, while it looks like these are forward opening?

I shot my shiny new Umarex SA 10. Not at all impressed, it is going back.
Accuracy is awful, even rested shotgun patterns are the norm, about the same with RWS Hobby pellets or BB's since Pyramyd provides RWS Hobby pellets....
I was not expecting high accuracy, it needs to be better than it is. Maybe I could live with the poor accuracy if I could count on it firing with each trigger pull. It skips pellets in the magazine so back it goes. For the price point it has a decent trigger,

I have some of those dual-ammo things. The blowback robs power from the ammo, so I use the lightest pellets I can find (I never send steel BBs through a rifled barrel, but I will use the ABS Blaster plastic BBs on occasion) and the accuracy improves a bit. Check that the inner barrel isn’t wobbling around in the shroud. If it is, add tape or shims to take up the slop.
The crunchy trigger, especially in DA, is a consequence of the rotary mag. IMHO there’s no so thing as too much grease in these rotary mag airguns, including white grease all over those mags. That’s right, slop it on … it’ll be a bit messy. You might give it a try and see if it helps.

Used a little more fine steel wool on the M712 , and some paint stripper on the bolt. Lubed it all with Way oil #4.
Semiauto can deliver almost 60 shots. Full auto can easily dump the whole mag unless you have a *very quick* finger, and you'll get significantly fewer shots.
Holster carries two extra CO2 cartridges. I don't attach the shoulder stock all that often, that's a different rig altogether.

I finally got around to running a chrono on the M712:
~350 fps with Black Diamond BBs
~490 fps with ABS Blaster (plastic) BBs

Kickback is significant with this thing and took some getting use to.
Shot groups are now about 2" (with Black Diamonds) at 7 yards without the stock attached.
Barrel shroud is epoxied in place ... the set screw was useless and always coming loose.

After a full lube I run a mag through it with a combo of semi and full auto bursts to work it through. I'm always amazed how much excess grease & oil gets spit out during full auto.

I Requested an RMA from Pyramyd. Failure to feed from the first magazine means I am not fixing a new gun. I've no need for sloping white lithium all over the mags so back it goes. I'm looking at the Crosman 2240XL? I think that is it. Also did not much care for no way to put a red dot on the Umarex but knew that going in. Too much toy not enough real gun.

You won’t go wrong with the 2240XL. Endless mods and support available for that one. I just got done tinkering with a 2240 and am very happy with it.
