What pistol did you shoot today

Surprisingly, the sun is shining. It's the calm before the storm, all the preps are done, so I figured I'd do some shooting. Haven't shot the little Gamo PT 80 in a long time. Despite its semi-auto Beretta looks, it's actually a revolver. Uses those little black 8 round cylinders in the parts tray. The thing had the trigger pull of a staple gun out of the box. Tweaked a couple of springs, did some stone work, and it cleaned up nicely. The Python is a Umarex, and the SMG is the Sig MPX. I got the version that uses the big 88 gram C02 cartridges. Get about 200 shots per cartridge. RWS Hobby feed the best. Fun reliable shooter and it has the familiar AR type ergonomics. It also responded well to some minor internal tweaking and polishing.

Day before a hurricane or TS is always beautiful. Ask me how I know. I have a Gamo PT-80 as well as a couple other Gamo pistols. Calling it the trigger pull of a staple gun is being generous LOL. Keep saying I’m going to dig into the trigger, good to know it can be done. Might hit you up for some tips after you get through Lee. Good luck, prayers are with all of y’all.

Well, the big storm was fortunately not so big. Some damage on the coast and over in Canada, but nowhere near as bad as it could have been. It's 70 and not a cloud in the sky today.

Decided to pull out a couple of airgun oddities to shoot. These are spring piston Luger P08 replicas made by the long out of business Crown Plastic Model Co. One a standard P08, and the other an Artillery Model. They came in kit form much like a plastic model airplane. They're made of heavy ABS plastic with a metal barrel and internals and shoot a proprietary .25 cal skirted nylon pellet at around 300 fps. They feed from an 8 round magazine. Cranking the toggle cocks the piston on the backstroke, and feeds a round into the chamber when you release it. The barrels are smoothbore and they are accurate enough to plink beer cans at 10-15 yards.

I spent around 20 hours per gun building and finishing. I opted to hand polish the ABS outer components instead of using a paint finish. After smoothing out the glue seams, lightly weathering and coating the wood colored ABS grips with dullcote lacquer, and filling the lettering with white acrylic, they came out pretty good. The dimensions are nearly identical to the real Luger, and they are just a few ounces lighter. The ammo is beyond rare, so I don't shoot them very often. They're an interesting combination of my trade as a gunsmith (retired), and my hobby of model building. Fun shooters.

Took out a few I haven't shot in awhile this morning. Sig 226, RWS C225 which is a Sig P225 replica, an old reliable Daisy 617X, and a Beretta PX4. The German made C225 is a really good shooter, and it uses the same rotary mags as the Walther CP88. Barrel liners and optics mount are interchangeable between the two guns as well.

Today is 10 meter day . Taking the Morini 162ei out of the safe , i bought it when i got a inheritance check which is the only reason i spent that much .
i always wanted the most accurate pistol i could find . Thanks MOM .
P.S. i am a lousy off hand pistol shooter and this gun proves it every time .

Shot the Brocock Atomic XR, .177 as a pistol in the Airgunners of Arizona monthly Field Target Pistol/Springer match at Ben Avery Shooting Complex. 12-18 MPH winds with some higher gusts at the beginning of the match. I was the only pistol and most everyone else shot springer rifles. 26-48, it was tough with wind. 1/2 inch hole at 10 yds and 2 inch hole at 35 yds and a big mix in between for targets. Always fun.

I just unthread the stock and don’t use the power adjuster, shooting QYS 9.56 grain pellets at 750 fps. Pretty lights out if the gun isn’t blowing all over in the wind.

I was at Wally World the other day and I saw that they sell those same 1/10 scale steel silhouettes that I get from PA. Picked up another dozen. The 2300S at 40 yds hits them every time.

I also mounted a compact Bushnell red dot on the Umarex Brodax. Odd looking, very affordable, a good shooting wheelgun. The Brodax also uses the same rotary mag as the Umarex Colt Python. Common mags shared by different guns is a huge selling point for me.

Man, if you’re doing that at 40 yards standing you’re better with a pistol than I!
