What slugs to shoot out of .25 impact mkll

You can shoot dang near anything honestly. The impact mk2 seems to eat it all without much fuss. For us in regular impacts, nielsens have the edge on accuracy by a little bit, and varmint knockers have an edge on tissue damage (birds explode) by quite a bit. Its up to you which one is most important if you have the same experience we do. I chose tissue damage for more insta kills. Im not sure which one norm will pick yet.

To be more specific, with an actual mk2, bobs gun shoots the vks lights out. Way under a half moa at 130 which is as far as i have tested it yet. I have not tried the nielsens in it but i imagine they will shoot just as good without quite as much damage.

Edited to add: bobs gun is a 22. Our regular impacts are 25

Try the new Nielsen slugs, either the 33.5gr. the 36.2gr. or the 38.5gr.

I've been testing some slugs out of the .25 MKII and a 700mm liner. Today I started testing the new Nielsen slugs and they shot great! I don't think you can go wrong with any of the new Nielsen slugs and the Impact MKII. The slugs I tested today were the 33.5, 36.2 and 38.5 grain. I was shooting the 33.5gr. at 915-920fps, the 36.2gr. at 890-900fps and the 38.5gr. at 855-860fps, again with no tuning of my gun. This was just my initial testing of the Nielsen slugs so I started with my reg. on 150BAR, the hammer spring pre-load maxed out, the power wheel on max. and the valve up front on 4 lines. With no adjusting or tuning of my gun at all, all three of these slugs shot crazy good and I was shooting in strong winds! I can't wait to continue my testing on a calm day and tuning the gun for maximum accuracy. They really look really promising and have me excited! Stoti

I've been paying attention to these, please keep updating this thread. Seems like NSA recommends the 33.5gr and below moreso for the slug liners so far.

Yeah Glem, I've been talking with Nick, he has a couple other people testing them for him too. One of the other testers said the 33.5 grain slugs shot best. The testing has just really started with these so we'll see. I like velocity, so I'm hoping the 33.5 slugs shoot awesome on a calm day. I shouldn't have been testing in these winds today but I was excited to try them out.

I shot all three today in pretty heavy winds at 75yds and they were all good. No tuning with my gun at all and the 33.5gr shot a good 12 shot group at 75yds. The 36.2 grain shot a great 16 shot group at 75yds and the 38.5gr shot the best group, 14 shots about 1.25"h x 5/8"w at 75yds. It was windy, 10-15mph with gusts to 20mph which may be why the 33.5 didn't perform as well as the others. These groups were awesome for the winds I was shooting in.

I'm super excited to see what they'll do on a calm day when I actually dial in the gun for each one. Of all the slugs I tested with my crown and Impact over the past few months, these by far show the most promise with my Impact. No just random fliers either which was a problem with my Crown. With the Crown I would have a super group and then get a flier, it happened with almost all of the slugs I tested. Not with these! They look like jewelry with no deformity at all and the weights are very consistent! I'll do a full write up after I spend some time dialing in my gun for each one and see what they can do on a dead calm day at various velocities.

Here is a picture of the best group. 14 shots with the 38.5gr at 75yds. For reference, my thumb is about 5/8" wide.

I was shooting VK's and NSA's and it seemed the VK's for my Impact on this day were a tad more accurate. I'd like to try some of Nic's newer ones and see how they perform, probably the lighter ones just to keep my velocity as high as possible. These were 60 and 80yd groups. From what I was testing it also seemed like both liked a clean barrel.
