I shot my HW50 .22 in freezing weather offhand open sights at clay pigeons at 50 yards
It was too cold to be serious and I had a great time. I really like spring guns in the 12 fpe power level.

Not a Springer but this is what I shot today on Christmas Eve.
Crosman 140 .22 cal. I just got this a couple of days ago and it's a real shooter. This little rifle has been a lot more accurate than I expected.

Took three shots with the HW30 at 15 meters this afternoon. It was very calm and I was feeling settled in. All three went in the same hole...feels good

I only have a 34 and a Kodiak .25 they are the ones that get used least. Possibly my most shot guns are my 130QE .30

My nephews and I had fun shooting the adult sized Red Ryder, the 499B, and the Ruger MKIV. Had a great time. Nobody shot their eye out.

Curious how the Red Ryder and the Daisy 499 or 99????? compared on accuracy at what distance? Thinking the scope evened up the score.

I'm curious about that myself. Lately I've been finding myself wanting to build a BB gun and I'm wondering if there's any good way to combine the two. I'd like to get the accuracy of the 499 with the autofeeding of the Red Ryder and get a velocity of around 400 fps. Maybe an AEG.

The 499B is definitely the more accurate rifle at 10 meters or less.
It's made for junior 5m competition, and at that distance with Daisy Precision Ground Shot, it will shoot through one hole. At 10m it will shoot a dime sized 5 shot group. Beyond that, groups become drastically larger. Never shot the Red Ryder closer than 10m because the 4x RWS scope doesn't have an AO and you can't get a clear picture that close. At 10m the Red will shoot a nickel sized group on a good day with the same ammo, and quarter sized groups at 15 yards. One major difference between the two is the 499B comes with a 2lb two stage trigger, and the Red has a single stage 5lb trigger.
We were plinking soda cans at 15-20 yards, and when you stretch out the range, the scoped Red is the more accurate gun because of the optics and velocity difference. The 499B makes a consistent 265fps where the Red makes 355-360fps according to my chrono.
They look similar, but they are two very different rifles. I've always thought the 499B was an interesting gun due to the fact that it's a single shot muzzle-loading .177 springer. Fun shooters both.

Was out shooting a Webley Patriot I low bid on on ebay and won. It's a custom rifle with gas-ram and shortened barrel. A bit tough to cock, but shoots pretty good.
