What springer did you shoot today?

TX200 MKIII .177 at 50 yards. Using AA 10.3 sorted to 10.4 in 4.52mm will wax lube.

On deck for today is the Daisy/Avanti 499b, P1 in .22, and Webley Tempest. I love the quirky nature of the 499b. A single shot muzzle-loading BB gun that is scary accurate and looks like a Red Ryder. It's one of my all time favorites.

It's not a springer, but figured I'd mention my newly resealed Crosman Mk1. Taking it out again for a thorough workout today. For years, an old family friend would tell me about this Crosman pistol he had that quit working years ago. Didn't remember what model it was. Knowing my love of airguns, he said if he ever found it, I could have it. Well, he found it, and I was shocked to receive the gift of a complete Mk1 in fine condition, all it needed was a new set of seals, and a good cleaning. She's a real shooter, and a keeper-

Man you’re consistently deadly. Almost looks like same target. Practice, practice and practice.
Does the wax lube make a difference?
Reason I ask because I just got a few .20 cal. rifles and to put a round in it’s very tight in all of them. Sometimes I bent the skirt with my nail pushing it all the way in. But deadly accurate, nice grouping. I found loose fitting rounds unreliable. Crow

What a score. Nice rifle. Enjoy. Thanks for sharing. Crow
The MK1 is such a cool pistol. Might have to add one someday. No springers last night, just CO2 pistols. But Crowski, this pic is for you. We had good music to listen to.

Thanks. Saw both of them. In 5 minutes I’m going to ask you to stop!
Here’s one for you, on now, a crowd pleaser try. “Murder by Love” by the Towler Brothers. The words are great and they mention a gun. Crow

Good stuff. My anthem this week has been “I Want My Dog to Live Longer” by Curtis Salgado and Alan Hager. Great song.

@crowski

The Lube helps these anyway. I accidentally mixed 2 lots of the same and while each lot is internally consistent they each have a slightly different poi. I can't tell which is which by sight and they are weight sorted. I shoot those at paper and it makes me nuts. It looks like 1 or 2 flyers.

So this was a re-test of weight sorted and lubed. It tightens things up at 50-yards by about a quarter inch on 10 shot groups. My 10 shot groups tend to be about 30% - 40% larger than 5 shot groups.

These are 5 shot groups this morning on a 12" plate at 50-yards. Those on the left are Zan 10gr slugs. The others are various weight sorts of AA 10.3s.

As I noted in response to @crowski above I was shooting steel today. 50-yards.
I had inadvertently mixed 2 AA Field Heavy 10.3 lots when sorting which have somewhat different poi. Shooting them on paper was making me nuts as it exaggates small variations. So I switched to steel. The range has 12" plates and I set out some 1 inch flip targets, a 2 inch hanger and a 1inch hanger. I shot some 5 shots groups on the hangers and just shot the flips and reset.

What kind of accuracy at what distance are you getting with the Daisy 499? I have a Daisy 99 and need to know what I need to try to achieve.

The gun is built for 5 meter competition. At that range using Daisy precision ground shot, I can on a good day get dime sized groups offhand. Shooting from a sandbag with an artillery hold at 5 meters the BB's will go through one hole. Never shot it on paper past that distance. Just plinking offhand I can hit empty .410 shot shells at 15-20 yards all day long.

The only kind of ammo I use-

Shoot the 300s again last night. Great when it stays lite till after 9 pm.
IMG_5973.jpeg
10 meters 5 shots each target.
IMG_5979.jpeg
I tried it at 30 yds. a few shots. Didn’t work out.
Next up a TX200 .177, a beauty.
IMG_5974.jpeg
This gun has no problem finding its mark. I wish Weihrauch put wood on their Air rifles like this
IMG_5975.jpeg

Same as on their rim fires would be really nice. We’re worthy.
The dragonflies are doing their job, never saw 1 mosquito, knock on wood. This is 8:25 pm. on 21st days get shorter again unfortunately. Sun rises at 5:30. Best time to wake up the Bass.

I can’t get enough of this rifle. Never been touched. Have a Rowan trigger, supposed to be better. Another great gun lost in time.
‘Other than the 300, this gun shined, a HW50 .177

They don’t get much better. I dropped the missing link on the can.

Another one bites the dust. Crow

That's impressive for a smoothbore gun! I have wanted to pick up a 499 for years , I need to do that as they look like a lot of fun.
I'd read about the purported accuracy over the years. The stories are true. It's a real joy to shoot. Lightweight, effortless cocking, great trigger, well worth the money. Daisy does a great job with fit and finish on them as well.

I bought the gun as a pair with a Daisy/Avanti 753S, which after some trigger work is one great shooting rifle as well.

Fantastic accuracy. I am no where close. Wish the trigger pull was not so high.

Some great guns. Jealous. Was 99 degrees today with 113 heat index. Only thing we shot was the breeze at Father’s Day party LOL. Going into office tomorrow so up early, unlikely to shoot tonight even though we’re down to only 91 degrees at 19:00. Oh, well. “There’s always, tomorrow, for dreeeeams to come true…”. Ha ha ha.
