What springer did you shoot today?

I was out between storms. It was windy like this morning so I moved to a little over 25 yards and shot USBR targets using unsorted AA 10.3s. I have video of those so that is coming. I did an under .50" at 25-yards I was happy with in the wind while zeroing for 25-yards. I have pic of target and video of wind attached. Wind was a bit more than this morning.

Another wind.

That is a nice picture from the Dock wow and that’s a good looking HW95. I have been following your Diana 350 thread. . Have a Question. Do you have a HW80 in same caliber as the D350 if so could you give your opinion about the 2 guns I feel both rifles are about the same. Diana specs shows. It to be a longer rifle than the 80 Thanks for posting. Frogy
Even odder I do have one, it’s the .177 I don’t have. I took both rifles out to shoot to compare. Don’t know actual weights but the 80 is heavier. My 80 is the k model, I’d rather it be long. I do like the looks of the short better.
Both guns jacked properly. The 80 would benefit with longer barrel.

The 80 wins here

The safety’s on the Diana drive me crazy. Cheezy Both hold good.

I found the 80 to be better grouping using JSB 15.89
IMO I would go with the 80 over the 350.
I got a morning shot here’s a shot of the sun going down from a kitchen window, real time.

Hope this helps. Crow

Yes thank you for taking the time . And what a view 😀😀😀

Went to our family farm today with our youngest son (18) and 3 of his friends. Several of my siblings were picnicking down at the (4 acre) pond. Some did a little swimming. I broke out 2 Weihrauchs and one brother and I did a little soda can slaughter at 30 yards off hand shooting. Nothing formal just fun.
Our family finished building the pond in 1972. The old barn has been gone 15 years.

Both guns bought on auction sites years ago. LN condition. Nice old style stocks.
Beeman R9 177. I was the only bidder. I placed the opening bid and forgot about it until I got an email saying I won. I hadn't shot it since last fall other than a few shots. It shoots so nice off hand. I never tuned this one and I think it's next to do. Finally. It feels a little graunchy when cocking. Perhaps the spring is canted. A JM spring and a shop made guide will probably be the ticket.

Beeman R7 177 Nice straight grain and color looks very nice outside. There were 2 R7's in that auction and I bid on the prettier stock. I was the only bidder on this one too

HMMM. i think if i lived there i would have to figure a way to only go to town once a month for supplies .

So I have yesterday's targets scored. As noted I was at 25-yards with a TX is pretty heavy wind. I will do a more complete video later. I skipped a bull on the second target. I thought I had shot it but didn't. The phone screen is hard for me to see at times.

Short of me shooting the second target.

Decided to put a diopter sight on my .177 HW50S. I got a sight in a trade that I've seen sold under many names. It's identical to the sight that came with my Daisy/Avanti 753S. Well made, tight and positive clicks. But no matter how tight I torqued the clamp, it would creep backward with every shot. I machined a steel stop pin to match the size of the holes in the top of the Weihrauch receiver, and pressed it into a corresponding blind hole I drilled into the underside of the sight body. Problem solved.

I didn't like the empty holes on the breechblock where the original rear sight was, so I took an R/C aircraft product called Monokote Trim in gloss black, scuffed it with scotchbrite, cut a piece to size, and stuck it on top of the breechblock. It's super thin, durable, solvent resistant, but can be peeled off with a bit of effort and a thumbnail. Non-permanent, blends perfectly with the polished blue, and makes the holes disappear.

I verified the sight isn't creeping, and managed to dial it in at 25 yards with some cheapie 7gr RWS Hobby pellets, when once again the wind and rain cut my session short. Plinked a couple cans real quick at about 35 yards and I think I'm going to like this setup. I used the front sight insert with the skinny post and ball on top. Perfect! And wow, the rifle is so light and handy without a scope.

Just waiting for some clear weather...

Cool the family farm. I can’t say what I was doing in 72, blur.
Love how that one grain travels through whole stock on R7. Sweet muzzzle end as well. Crow

I like the cover job you did on the holes.
Does the tape show any dip where hole is?

I ran 7 rifles through the crony today. HW30, 50 and 95 all in .20 cal. 2 Diana 460’s .177 and .22, Diana 350 mag. .22 and a FWB 124 Sport .177.

Bringing up to range.
The FWB sport was only shooting 375 fps. Bought used. Hmmm.
Are these guns any different than a Weihrauch or Air Arms to change the spring?

New guy here. I have been shooting since the mid 1950s and was around firearms for a 38 year law enforcement career, so I am not a newby to shooting. A very dear friend passed away in April and I inherited his Winchester model 1000 pellet rifle. Concurrently we are experiencing a surge of pocket gophers on our couple of acres, so I am quickly being inserted into the springer world. My 73 year old eyes don't work very well with iron sights so I ordered the attached Winchester 4x scope which arrived today. I did a quick sight-in in the back yard this afternoon and will take it to the range tomorrow and refine the zero.

I did manage to score two gophers with the iron sights by sitting in my Polaris Ranger and using a shooting stick, but I was extremely limited with the distance I was comfortable shooting. I am looking forward to having an extended range of operations with the scope. Unfortunately the Ranger quit on me today so I will need to trailer it to the shop to get it fixed. I am working on how to engage the gophers without inciting the neighbors.

No, but if it did, you could hit it for a few seconds with a hair dryer and it will go drum tight. Since it's intended to be a supplement to the heat shrink covering on a model aircraft airframe, it has heat shrink properties. Handy stuff, very durable for how thin it is. I buy 5"x36" sheets at the local hobby shop. Or you can buy it online-

Got to shoot the HW50S some more with the new diopter sight. Sweet setup. You can hit those little 1/10 scale steel silhouette targets PA gives out as freebies at 40 yards all day long. The skinny post with the ball on top front sight insert is perfect for plinking.

I also purchased a Sig P226 CO2 pellet pistol on Friday. My first shot fired was at a gopher showing just his head at about 4 yards. I was amazed that I hit him with my first shot

I have the C02 226 as well. It's a great training substitute for the real 226. Many of the other Sig air pistols use a belt type magazine system, and they can be, shall we say, finicky. The 226 though has the dual cylinder type magazine which is very reliable and easy to load. Good gun.
