Crow - Thank you very much. It's taken a long time, but I've finally managed to come to a decision. Definitely the Pro Sport, if circumstances will ever allow me to get one.

Although I prefer the looks and the shorter length of the Hunter, the Pro Sport certainly looks like it would have much better balance and handling of the two.

Plus, no bear trap on the Pro Sport? Wow. I did not know that. I thought it had one, too. If I ever had a gun with a bear trap, I'd have to see if I could remove or disable it.

I'm never at a bench. With the exception of sighting a gun in, or blowing off a pellet when it's time to go in, I consider it a wasted pellet if I can't bring something back to feed either our cat or one of our financially challenged parishioners. It's my way of feeding the poor. It's not at all monastic, but we do what we can. And they appreciate it more than you can imagine.

Many thanks again. You've finally brought an end to my search.

I did not touch a springer today. The wife and I took our 67 Mustang convertible and our 64 F100 pickup to a show and shine. We were parked next to a fantastic 58 Corvette. Nice quiet day with lots of visitors looking at our vehicles. We didn't win any awards but that doesn't matter to me. We enjoy showing our cars and looking at others. A couple of sprinkles early but the afternoon sun came out. We got up to 81 degrees.

Ran a few guns over the chronograph including my HW35E and Kim’s HW50. Shot both of those. Switched her .22 HW50 over to H&N FTT. As it’s broken in it prefers those over the JSB 13.4 by a wide margin. Better everything. My .177 35E has turned into a joy to shoot even with my old eyes and stock irons, which limits me to 20 yards right now. Making about 12.5 lb-ft with H&N FTT and it has a SNAPPY shot cycle! Not harsh, zero buzz or twang, just solid and you feel the recoil. Reminds me of my Diana 52 Luxus with PG2 kit making about 12-14 lb-ft. Is this typical for a 35E?

Insane. What we normally get in 1 month we’re getting it in 15 minutes. Second time this week.

I added another interesting (?) chapter to my high-altitude springer saga the past few days.

I've been missing a lot of critters lately with pellets going over their head, and retrieving some with pellets through their head that I'd intended for their heart / lungs. So I re-zeroed it a couple of days ago. It was shooting almost 1 1/2 inches high. That prompted me to chronograph it, too. It had - dropped - 43 fps. It was shooting at 787 fps, as opposed to its 830 norm.

I was like, what's wrong with it now?

So I took it apart yesterday. I ran a brass bore brush through the barrel. Scott Schneider from Motorhead told me four years ago shortly after we got it that I was going to have to do that from time to time regardless of what people say about it. He said that when you rapidly compress air, it superheats it, and that with me living at 9,000 feet ASL that it was going to be even hotter. He said the pellets would be literally melting in the barrel up here.

So I did that, and cleaned it all up and inspected it. Couldn't find anything wrong with it. Put it back together.

I chronographed it today, and it was back up to 830 fps. Re-zeroed it. It was hitting almost 1 1/2 inches low. So I adjusted the scope back up to pretty much where it was to start with.

Shortly thereafter, a young little chipper graciously offered itself for me to try it out on. Our merciful Lord was kind enough to grant it to me with a nice clean kill. Thank God. Killer, our cat, went right to work at it. It'd rained all night last night, so she probably didn't get much hunting in all night.

It's nice to have a happy ending for a change.

I did notice, though, that the barrel tightens the last 1/4 inch or so at the muzzle end. Is that a good thing, or a bad thing? Any of you have any thoughts about that?

Your welcome. I’m glad you made a choice. I’m not an expert by any means, so beware. I shot a Pro Sport today, awesome gun. Good luck Crow

Is the 67 a fastback? Crow

Great guns. Crony is a good idea. Crow

I was playing around tonight at the range with my TX200 MKIII. . I have been out for a week with bronchitis so I'm way out of practice. I was playing with largely with leftovers of lots. So, these are from various lots. Not real comparable as a result.

All are AA Field Heavies advertised as 10.3 grain 4.52mm head. I was shooting 50-yards as usual.

1. Reasonably consistent feeling heads sorted to 10.5 grain.

2. Reasonably consistent head size sorted to 10.4 grain and wax lubrication.

3. Pretty inconsistent lot sorted to 10.3 but head sized to 4.50mm head. They were wax lubed.

While overall sizes were not dramatically different the consistency to flyers were different.

I shot the smallest 10-shot group ever at 0.63". 🤩 I have it on video as well.
