What springer did you shoot today?

Pulled out the BSA Lightning XL in .22 for some long distance plinking. This is a Birmingham made gun with a gas ram installed by Dave Slade years ago and shoots just under 13ftlb. Was shooting a tin can at 70 yards with consistent hits using JSB Exact Jumbo RS pellets. These are great guns when set up right and very quiet with a ram and the built in moderator.

About a year ago, I tried to buy this rifle. I couldn’t find anyone in North America carrying this gem. Couldn’t understand why. I have a BSA Polaris, hard hitting and accurate. Thanks for showing. Very nice. Crow

Yeah don't understand why the Lightning xl isn't more popular since it's really a great size, power and accuracy. I have to say mine is a lot smoother shooter with the ram than it was with the stock spring . Post a pic of that Polaris when you get a chance, that's one you don't see that often. Looks pretty similar to a Superstar, which I have one of in .177 and also the cfx. I like the rotating breach on those alot.

I had a hard time loading it with JSB 15.89’s recently. Crushing the tails with the breach. I just loaded a 14.35 and it slid in like it was greased. Awesome.

‘This gun and a HW80 gave me the bug. I managed to buy it from my buddy. This gun is accurate and one of my hardest hitters.

I have all the Weihrauchs except for the 57, because of this. I can tolerate it, but don’t like the procedure.
I wish I could get my hands on a Lightning.
Where did you get yours?
Crow

Polaris looks very similar to my Gamo CFX which is a nice gun and makes sense since bsa is now owned by Gamo. I replaced the spring with a a ram in mine. Shot a few JSB exacts today with it, it's a full length rifle, wish they would have made it as a carbine and a little shorter.

I got my lightning xl used off one of the forums 7-8 yrs ago. Yeah definitely need the right length pellets to fit that rotating breach.
Nice score on the lightning.
I never thought of pellet length till today. Crow

Small world, wouldn’t want to paint it! They do look alike.
Amazing how easy to jack this gun. It hits hard. Crow
No springers today guys.
But still, I had a great time shooting some old Crosman classics. First, I shot the Crosman 1100 from ten yards at the target and the can and some other random things. Then 30 pellets through the 622 and the 99 at 40 yards. 😁

I had the TX200 MKIII .177 out at the range again. I have not had a lot of time to shoot and it shows. These are 5-shot groups. The inconsistency here is me. Mostly due to trigger control and grip. Bull are 3" overall, .50" orange and 1.0" grey.

It is 50-yards with AA 10.3 Field Heavy sorted by weight (10.3) and head size (4.50). I was just not on game for the most part.

Took the Pro Sport, HW97k and the HW30 out today. Got the Pro Sport zeroed in with a Hawke 2-7x32 and a BKL 260 mount. Cocking cycle is smoothing out. Quite the can killer.

The HW97k is a laser. Really impressed by the stock. Knocked the paint off of two spinners and cut a can in half.

The HW30 shoots like a dream. Really teaches you how to hold for wind. Hitting cans at 55 and 80 yards is always a hoot.
