What springer did you shoot today?

I've actually shot the past few days, but failed to post.
Today I shot the 105X .25 first five at 40 yards off hand. Totally blowing the first shot

New to me HW77 MK1. Gun I’d been wanting for a bit and a fellow AGN member clued me in there were a couple on the big auction site. Many thanks for that, my first AG purchase there. With the exception of the missing rear sight that I can’t use anyway this gun is in incredible shape. Bluing is beautiful and stock excellent, couple tiny dings if you look hard. Turns out it was rebuilt/tuned by an airgunsmith who’s a member here. Going to reach out to him tomorrow and see what internals are. Fired 10 pellets through it, 5 JSB 8.4 and 5 FTT. POI pretty close with both and has a beautiful shot cycle. Dieseling a bit, see if it settles down. Couldn’t be happier. Now I just have to decide whether to mount a scope or a peep.

Edit: This one is Beeman badged. Number 1000839. Date your HW sight says 1983.

Man, that’s awesome.
Thanks. Had a productive day. Got 3 red squirrels and 2 groundhogs. All headshots from around 35-40 yds. Those .177 Seneca 16.1 gr hunting pellets out of the D48 really do a number on squirrels. Used .22 wmr Hornady V-Max rounds for the groundhogs. It's a 30 gr ballistic tip type of bullet going around 2200 fps. Needless to say, instant lights out.

citamu what is that on the scopes groves? Looks like one hell of a stop pin😂

This gadget is a Beeman "scope stop" and it engages the arrestor hole to prevent scope slippage. There were two varieties, the standard and the deluxe. The deluxe, that this one is, can be used with both the 11mm and the 13mm dovetail.
This very nice AG is the 839th HW77 made, and so an early one. It's a "mk1", has a 25mm piston, has no anti bear trap plate...I believe the Brits who really like these think it's a very desirable model?
Be gentle with the cocking lever retainer ball.
Congrats on your new purchase.

Not just no, but hail no! We’ve seen how you treat visitors who go after your melons!

Thank you, sir. On several counts. Talked to guy who did rebuild on this gun a little earlier. Said he didn’t touch stock or bluing, it was just the way it is. Based on condition I don’t think this gun saw much use. Popped the spare Williams I had on it, wiped a little lube that had transferred during shipping. Dieseling under control, shoots beautifully. Can’t believe it’s a 40 year old gun.

That is one beautiful rifle. Helluva find.

After a year of shooting Air Arms Field Heavy (10.3 grain) and Air Arms Field (8.4 grain) pellets I decided to revisit pellet performance from other makers. Every rifle handle shooting pellets differently so you results may differ.

I am shooting a TX200 MIII in .177 with a Vortex Diamondback 6-24x50mm scope. I am shooting from a bench with from an Allen rest with Protektor bags. There was little to no wind, no mirage and about 78 degrees Fahrenheit.

Here 2 types of H&N pellets were tested. The H&N FT 9.57 grain (4.50mm) and H&N Baracuda Match 10.65 (4.51mm). Their performance was compared to the AA 10.3 (4.52mm) pellets that I regularly use. In this instance the H&N 9.57 provided solid accuracy compared to AA 10.3 but shot slower and with more trajectory. Future testing with H&N 9.57 is suggested.

Did some continued pellet testing with my HW98 and have settled on h&n ftt as the best so far. Then pulled out two old springers to plink with, first the old Chinese Snowpeak TS45 Elite (on right in pic) which i bought @1988 from Paul Landrith off an ad in American Airgunner magazine. Then also did a little shooting with my Webley Hawk mk 3. Both fun shooters but always leary of the TS45 as this is one of those old Chinese sidelevers with no antibeartrap and this one actually closed on my palm back when I first owned the gun, still have the scar today!
