What springer did you shoot today?

2 favorites tonite. A HW98 .20. How can you go wrong? I dare a tree rat to come around. Can’t wait to give it a new spring. Accuracy is first nature.View attachment 505721
Next up HW97 lam. .20. It has the Vortek spring. Night and day. Smooth action. View attachment 505720Planted that maple 2 years ago, it only had 25 leaves then.
This 97 is special. So accurate. Crow
I would love to get a 20cal barrel for my 98

First time behind a trigger. Breaking in a new HW35e in .177 with a tin of CPHP 7.9gr.
Backyard bench and sandbag, using a Tech Sights peep and stock post front sight at 30 yards.

After raising the peep all the way and a little right.

Smooth cocking and trigger. I like the weight and balance. Not much recoil and a little clank. A very satisfying morning.
I’m glad I don’t need my reading glasses and could use a recommendation for clear shooting glasses that won’t give me a headache like the cheap pair I have.
I’ve so much to learn and enjoy learning new things that make me smile.
Thanks all for sharing your knowledge.

Sweet! It's shooting well!

I got the Tech Sight I ordered when I saw yours. Same deal. It's a little low. A great steel sight though. And I like the mounting clamps.

I need a lower front sight or a peep about 3/16" taller for it to work just right. I might trim down one of those inserts in the front globe a bit and try that. It's sure going to limit range but will work great out to 50 yards.

I might try and make a new peep for it out of a machine screw. If there was just a little more adjustment it would be a perfect rear sight.

76F a gem f a day. Night shoot with a HW80 Black STL. .22

Great nite shooting. Crow

Not much shooting going on? Maybe it’s the change of the season?

Lovely day today. I’ve been wanting to spend some more time with the 77 Tyrolean. I grabbed it and took it for a whirl after work today. Nothing precision just some good ol’ iron sighted airgunning! So nice 👍🏼

I’ve been in contact with a fellow Air gunner I met through gun sales. He’s mid west Canada. Shared stories on the horn and texting. He’s also into rim fires, which I’m not.
I contacted him when he had a HW50 for sale. This one

This thing needs some TLC but does it ever shoot sweet.
IMG_0148.jpeg
Well we made a trade. I unloaded a rim fire. Had for 3 years never fired it. Not my bag.
Also scored this R7 .177.

This baby needs a spring. Going to be my first job in almost 2 years.
IMG_0152.jpeg
Missing sights. This going to be a fun job.
‘Last in the deal was this Barakuda. And what a gem.
IMG_0164.jpeg
This is my second and this one jacks like a new gun.

Shoots really nice.

Going to spend some time with the 50 and Barakuda, iron sights next shoot. Crow

Really nice!
That must have been quite a nice rimfire.

I'm down to 4 pellet guns, 3 PCPs and an HW95 .20 I can have days without time to shoot much but the HW I pull out the safe and send a dozen or so rounds almost every day. It's just so convenient and a pleasure to shoot.

Are those the equivalent to the Beeman R1?

The 97K finaly gets some non JSB ammo shooting 75 yards.
20240916_192717.jpg

After 3500 rounds of 13.73, I started with JSB Heavy's shooting all 500 rounds. I found the accuracy to suffer only slightly. The trajectory change required 6 MOA of up. After that I switched back and finished off the tin of 13.73's.

Next up was H&N Barracuda's 13.58.
I didn't like these as they were hard to load, and inaccurate for me. Interestingly their trajectory was about 5 MOA higher than the JSB Exact's, even though the H&N's were only .15 gr lighter.
I wound up dialing in 20 clicks of down with them.
after 60 or so rounds my thumb got sore loading those so I switched to the H&N 11.42 FTT's.

Screenshot_20241025_081115_Gallery.jpg
The 11.42 FTT's shot higher yet requiring all the down that I had left bottoming out my elevation turret. They were easy to load seating a little less than flush. The accuracy came back and I shot a round of Crazy Eights before I lost light.

The H&N's had different characteristics than the JSB's in the way they sounded hitting the steel targets. The JSB's have a pronounced "klink", and the H&N's were almost silent.

I can't beleive I'm at my scope stop with these, and I don't want to subject the scope to a springer pounding while it's against the stops. So ill have to adjust my rings to continue with the FTT's.
I am curious about how much flatter my trajectory is and how that will effect accuracy, and shot ranging, but they were worse in the wind so?
