Decent shooting. I’ve got my HW80 .25 lined up for tomorrow. It was 20 but the sun was warm..177 HW80 today at 50yds. Baracuda Match 10.65's with SWFA 12x42 SS (Great scope btw)
Yesterday, I spent an hour aligning my scope reticle on my HW80 with an 8 foot at level 50 yds. So today I shot it. I think I had some cant that was affecting my POI.
I finally figured out my hold I think, at least today LOL. I shot a 43 on the 50yd challenge target. I know I can do much better with this gun. I really lost concentration at the 9th target. The gun is a rocket but when I do my part it is very accurate. I really want to tune the gun this winter if possible. But dang it is shooting good for my rookie skill level.
Temp was a balmy 30 degrees and not a breath of wind. Shooting with gloves on too. Trigger pull is interesting with gloves on. I kinda like it! Resting on front bag.

Nothing on the cold front. I’m good for a hour and a half in this weather. I’ve got my trigger hand covered, especially when jacking it. I’m thinking a small hand warmer for the left.Hi crow. What R U talking about? missed shots. How can u miss. They are HWs. in the Forgiving 22cal, it's sunny, calm, and balmy out compared to the other day and you miss,,MISS!,,What r we going to do with u,,lol. Have u found a solution to the freezing finger tips issue? Them pellets freeze your fingers too. Thx for the post crow.
I also gave my HW95 .22 a go at 10 meters today. I just wanted to do a quick try so I shot a hole in the cardboard and then aimed my next 10 shots at that hole. I didn't do bad. Next time I'll stick up a 10 meter rifle target.I have been doing the P17 at 10 meters. TX200 MKIII at the same range but less s. For some reason 10 meters seems like a handgun range to me.
Your story is exactly like mine… I went from a daisy to Crosman to a Sheridan as a small boy. Saw article for the 124d in the back of a mag. I couldn’t believe you could get 830fos with breaking a barrel!!!! I saved my all my money doing law cuts and odd jobs. That 124 is my baby to this day with over 30 other airguns!!@crowski et all,
Enjoyed all the pics. I have an original Feinwerkbau 124s no 12058 in .177 that I bought from Robert Grant's original Air Rifle HQ for myself back in the '70s. Oh the memories with this one! I had to mow & rake a lot of lawns as a teen to earn the money for this one! I think I learned about ARH and 'adult air guns' from an ad in the back of one of Dad's magazines, maybe Outdoor Life or Popular Science.
It was the inspiration for my username.
Buttery smooth and amazingly light cocking force for its velocity, and requires a gentle hold to shoot well. A great all day plinker. I keep it ready by the garage door nowadays.
Around 2012 I rediscovered ARH, now owned by Jim Maccari, built a spring compressor jig, and bought parts to replace the old spring and failed breech seal. Did a lube tune with light tar on the spring and moly paste. When it was new it had spring buzz but now the shot cycle is a quick and commanding "THUK!" with zero vibration, very satisfying.
Eventually, I picked up an aluminum trigger and one of the last of the laminate stocks from ARH a couple years later to 'celebrate' its rebirth. A muzzle brake and trigger shoe rounded out the accessories. I suppose it deserves a better scope but this one with the one-piece mount has been sufficient and rock solid.
The little black thing on the wrist of the stock is a self-adhesive rubber bumper foot, which provides a consistent place for my thumb to rest when I do my trigger pinch technique. I call it the 'accuracy button' and put them on many of my springers. Try it!

I can see me setting up a range Jan. and Feb. when temperatures drop. It will be 10 meters. CrowI have been doing the P17 at 10 meters. TX200 MKIII at the same range but less so. For some reason 10 meters seems like a handgun range to me.
The sun helps if no wind.It was in the lower 40s today. Thought it would be to cold to shoot but it felt warmer with the sun out and no wind.
I have a couple of 7 inch diameter frying pans hanging up at 50 yards. So I did some shooting at those with my 95 in .22. Both off hand and off the bench I can consistently hit them but I still can't get any tight groups.
Small world, wouldn’t want to paint it. CrowYour story is exactly like mine… I went from a daisy to Crosman to a Sheridan as a small boy. Saw article for the 124d in the back of a mag. What do you mean,"without breaking a barrel" the 124 is a barrel breaker.Your story is exactly like mine… I went from a daisy to Crosman to a Sheridan as a small boy.
