What springer did you shoot today?

I cronied this honey this morning. It’s shooting almost 200 fps slower than before the spring change.View attachment 521315Almost sounds like there’s a silencer on it.
Here’s 20 rounds 35 yds. Pulled 2. These aluminum targets are the best. Nail close to dime. View attachment 521316Lost a lot of snow. Been in 40’s. Crow
That's pretty slow for a .177🤔 That's only 8.2 fpe if using a 8.44 pellet. Maybe it's not sealing well, or the piston seal is way too tight in the compression tube.

Very good! I’m dying one because how well you did.
Well take your time, because it will take time..lol.
Prep work is key. The dying part is adjust it to your liking. I did a couple maple boards to get a feel for how to mix it, and color output. If you finish it with the matte polyurethane, do one light coat and let it dry for a couple of days, then repeat, letting it dry. I made the mistake of trying to do three coats in one day, and it wouldn't dry in some spots. I ended up with about seven coats, so it took a while.

Thanks. I was a 8.44. I thought it was slow. I’ll hopefully get at it tonight. Love the sound and accuracy. Crow

Here’s another that never got cronied after the change. A HW85 .22. JSB 13.44

I came this close to getting one of these in .20 cal. This gun is infectious. Crow

One of my new old 50’s. Accurate, but made some clicking noises when returning the barrel. Going on the bench.View attachment 518489I also shot my HW35e .177. View attachment 518490Such a pleasing gun. And today above accurate, if there’s such a thing.
24F. and still snowing. Awesome day to shoot. Crow
Geeez the wood Gods looked after you ! Beautiful stock indeed

Nothing, I woke up this morning with my left leg hurting, behind the knee above and below and find it hard to walk. Went to the doctors office and had some x rays, really showing not much mild, low level osteoarthritis and some swelling, nothing bad for a 79 year old, except it hurts. Got a prescription for some fairly high dose prednisone hoping that it might help in inflammation. It will probably take a day or so for that to do anything if at all..

Marathon of shooting today. 24F. when I came in.
This morning shot this HW77 .22, bought used.
IMG_0674.jpeg
Dirty accurate. I have nothing against the 77’s.
‘The HW90 .22 almost makes your head spin like in the Exorcist. What a marvellous gun.
IMG_0675.jpeg
It takes every shot serious.
And last before sundown a HW97 .20.

This gun is tough to beat. Even with a club. I had to thaw out. Crow

HW30 spring comparison for those interested.

In the pic, JM on the left, and factory HW on the right.
JM is .113 wire diam and 27 coils, OD is .744, ID is .518. And the spring is straight, and it has been set. It's about .570 shorter than the HW

HW factory is .106 wire diam and 29 coils, OD is .720, ID is .501 and the spring is kinky, it is set and is about 8-1/6" long. Guide diam is .463 so it's about .019 per side too small..lol.

A few of my Weihrauch springs had bends in them. None were used a lot or abused. Crow
