What springer did you shoot today?

Well today I risked loosing a finger. 12F. Light breeze but sunny. The sun kept you warm. Had to wear a hat from the sun, which isnā€™t normal for me to wear. Took 1 shot almost got knocked out from the scope catching the brim of my hat. Ha ha.
Took out 2 rifles couldnā€™t get past this HW97kt .25. View attachment 522068Best plinker on the wall. I have a 95 on order in .25 walnut, canā€™t wait to get. Really love this gun on the range. Crow
I'm surprised the springers will even function at 12deg. Any lube is probably froze up..lol. Pellet loading finger is taking all the pain out in the open.

Took my Pro Sport .177 out for a stretch. Going to get out the electric pants, down to 4F. The sun is so strong the outside of my jacket was warm.
This gun is a dream to shoot.

Took delivery of chairs made in Norway, ā€œStresslessā€. Comfortable is not the word. And as good looking as this gun which did its part.
I really donā€™t notice any difference in performance due to cold. I donā€™t like the sweating when I bring them in. Crow

Picked this gun up off a Good Friend on the forum. A 1971 FWB 150-300S transition gun. Has the 150 cocking lever but with the sliding recoilless receiver and new 300S stock they brought out. The seals were pure garbage. All original, some of the screws were welded in ! No burrs anywhere. So a new seal job yesterday. Lee picked up this gun from a Gal shooter that I dont believe she put 500 shots thru the gun. The pistol grip had "0" handling marks on it.The few handling marks look more like putting it in and out of the safe. I'm shooting indoors with a back brace on or I'd be shooting at the shop out my shooting window.Give me three more weeks. Any how , A pic of gun and A target with A 4-12 Burris compact slapped on it. Also the iron sight target , the first 50+ shots done with the iron sights and I have blurry vision ! LOL at 71 One Tyro and two 300 guns. a 124 Sporter coming in after the 1st,Told tom to hold till after Xmas rush.... Merry christmas Guys ! Pete in Montana

all shooting at 50'

A nice day for my .177 AA TX200. 12 fpe so super smooth and quiet. My oldest daughter was down from NYC, and once I taught her how to look through a scope... "Eye box: What is that" :), she didn't miss a single silhouette. I taught her how to cock and load, but it was a lot quicker for me to do that part for her.

20cal, is that little man a lefty? I find I have no lefty stocked guns to leave the grands. Hmmmmm. Be Well Brothers, Bandito. PS. here, I have some neutral stocks and right hand stocks, just no lefties. B.
I have caught him shooting both ways, but his eye test showed right eye dominant, so I try to keep him righty.

You should have seen his face when he shot a Sheridan! He only missed his first shot, then never missed again.

I gave him a gun with a red dot on it and he never hit a thing, and didnā€™t like it.

Well today it happened!
My 6 year old grandson took over as best shot over his 8 and 12 year old sisters!

Great time of the year to spend time with family. Goes by too quick. Crow

I think in that cold I would need some "high voltage" pants!

I raved about my HW77 .25. Put a TBT spring with Vortek piston in. A little light with grease, redid it last night when the main squeeze crashed last night.

Getting pounded with snow. This 77 could care less. Did an academy performance. Came close to a record, only 5 yds. further back. Thanks for advice. Crow

Ha ha. You know I went out later in the day. It was 12 deg. warmer, but no sun. It was way colder.
If thereā€™s any wind itā€™s a no show.
The electric will come out after Christmas, after everyone leaves. Crow

Iā€™m on vacation and the grandkids went back home after breakfast. So what am I going to do with myself? šŸ¤” oh yeah I have a new springer! šŸŽÆ šŸ˜‚

I had put it away not even on paper at 30y. I checked it and it was high and right. I got on my dials like I was reeling in a fish. No brain or thinking attached other than correct direction. First shot, Bullseye! Youā€™ve got to be kidding me! That was like 5ā€ left and 4 down. O
Ok so took out two shot shells and two bottle caps of the shelf and proceeded to shoot every target on the 30 yard range. No misses! Thatā€™s crazy! Crazy fun!

I hadnā€™t wanted to take the 35e out to 75y because it just hadnā€™t shot tight enough groups at 30y yet, but with a day like this going what the heck!
I glanced at my Element Ballistic table and decided to try 24 Moa hold over and went high, 20 moa was dropping them low splashing dirt, and 22 was my first Crazy Eight paddle hit. So I dialed it into the turret.

The 75 yard array didnā€™t go as well as the 30y but only because of wind, nonetheless it was crazy too. After one round of Crazy Eights, I went for the shot shell in the bucket. I compensated 1 1/2 left for wind and 3/4 up, because I was still a little low. I smacked that sucker hard on the first shot! Man I was a happy camper, but the wind kept me in check with plenty of misses along with poi change in elevation from the rings slipping on the rails. I tightened those little screws as tight as I could turn them. Enough with the torque wrench.

Living in the deep south, E Texas, it's hard for most of us to relate to those low temps. Reminds me of when I was called up for Desert Storm back in 91. We left San Antonio near midnight when temp was in mid 70's and very humid, landed in Gander, Newfondland next morning as sun was coming up and they said temp was -35 and do not touch the ramp rail getting off the plane unless you have gloves. Then back to low 60's and humid when we hit the UK about 6 hours later. A couple of weeks later we had extreme low temps there, cold enough to use the space between some storm windows in the RAF housing where we were billeted as a refrigerator. As long as wind stayed down the cold did not bother us much, and we did have a lot of snow in that period.

About 3 years ago we hit about -8 here in E Texas, lots of ice and snow, coldest I have ever seen in my 79 years in the deep south. Again if the winds were down, maybe a light breeze, and plenty of sun those days did not seem so cold. I did learn wind and cold do not mix.

If I were her, I'd want to move to Florida.šŸ˜‰

Picked up the LGV today as each day. When I go into the basement I try to remember to set up a few "shots". No pellets. Just stance, hold, breath control, trigger control, basically dry fire. Wish the trigger group would do a dry fire snap without cocking like my old Browning Medalist 22 pistol. It feels and sounds like a proper release on dry firing. Most wonderful practice, that one! Be Well and Merry Christmas, Bandito.

Been shooting Schuetzen Matches for over 20 years. Love the double set trigger, you can cock the rear one then follow into your bull and lightly touch it off. you can practice with out firing a loaded round. So you can call your shot. The winter shooting offhand with my FWB Tyro offhand keeps my eye and follow thru. and call your shot and see if your on the target and if you called it and your on that bullet hole. The 4 oz trigger matches my Schuetzen rifle.....

R11 and I spent several hours today trying different pellets and shooting through the chrony. Everything on the first target with all the writing was shot @ 10m off a set of trigger sticks. The other group was outside off the same sticks @21 yards with AA DIABOLOL FIELD 8.4gn pellets. The more I shoot this gun the more I REALLY LIKE IT! It is a sub 12ft/lb gun that is not twangy or pellet picky. Some pellets shoot better than others but most of the fliers are shooter error. The group at 21yards would have been a 1/2ā€ but I dropped one.

Were these guns sub 12 ft/lb from the factory? I really donā€™t want to even take it apart and see since itā€™s such a sweetheart to shoot! Any tuning tricks if I were to ever decide to that anyone has had luck with? Thereā€™s really nothing for the R11/98 that Iā€™ve seen as far as tune kits that interests me. Probably leave well enough alone, if it could shoot this easy at 19 ft/lbs Iā€™d sell off several other spingers, lol!!
