What springer did you shoot today?

So far it hasn't been a problem. I made the bushing .002" smaller than the receiver hole, and I made the pin hole .002 to .003 bigger than the pin, so it has a little play. Anyway I line up the pin and get it started, then push the ring base to the rear to take out any play, and then tighten the side clamp. Then I'll screw the pin in till it hits bottom, and back it off 1/8 of a turn. I usually blue locktite the pin so it stays where I set it at.
What is the diameter of the HW's receivers pin holes?
My original plan was to drop a chrome ball bearing in the pin hole that would be a tad taller than the rings so that the rings pinched and locked the bearing and the rings in position.

I imagine they vary somewhat, but on this HW30 they're .245 in diameter and about .100 deep.

Does your ring base not have a stop pin in it? Every air gun ring I've ever bought came with a stop pin in one of the ring bases.

I switched to the 97 at 75y this evening as the sun was going down. I set 50-yard bench rest targets out at 75-yards and shot five 5 shot groups before it was too dark to see. I was shooting.20 FTT's. My best groups were 1 1/4" for two groups, 1 3/8" 1 5/8" and the worst, 2 7/8".
I like these little targets. They're close to the size of a Crazzy Eights paddle, and there are 20 targets + 3 sighters to a sheet. I was setting the scope between groups so placement wasn't on point. No 10's but I got 3-9's out of 25 shots. Lol
Its a start. 👍

Excellent info!
The ring to receiver clearance is .07. So a BB should just miss the rings if those measurements are correct? If so a .20 bearing would likely work.
A .25 cal bearing is ginormous on there.

HW35 at 45’ in the basement. Trying out a few different front inserts and noodling with Mr Williams.
Someone recently mentioned posters only showing their best shots.
We’ll, I’m your huckleberry.

I’ll try not to soak up all the fun.

One tin at a time.

If it did we wouldn't be having this conversation. Lol
Most rings don't have pins. Heres a West Hunter ring that I was marking to add a pin.

A 6mm ball bearing would give you .0045" per side of play.

The weather has felt more like October than December this year, leaving few opportunities for shooting due to the rain. However, today I managed to take out my project rifle, the QB36-2. I acquired it specifically for tinkering and learning, and so far, it hasn’t disappointed. I had to redo the stock because the factory one was just a plain, square block of wood—especially the pistol grip section.

At 30 meters, using H&N Field Target Trophy .177 pellets with a muzzle energy of 11.88 fpe, the results weren’t too bad. However, I definitely need a better scope.

I would have to drill and tap that ring with all the problems you had. Maybe do it from now on? Be Well Brothers, 'dito.
I think that is a good plan!
I am tired of dealing with it, but my tools are scattered around here in boxes etc, so I'll make a trip to Ace today. 👍

Got out the old IZH MP-61 today. Sight in at 15 feet.(That’s all I have) and looking for the best pellet. It likes the 8-9 gr the best so far. Shooting offhand until I’m tired then pushing past that. Just to build muscle memory. I have had a shoulder rebuild since I shot last.
