What springer did you shoot today?

a steel ball will give big problems down the road as they fail to hold and damage the receiver, I ve had round cross bolts fail in picatinney rails on a springer
ya need a 90 degree vertical piece to hold and stay put
I would poop can the westhunter and buy Sportsmatch for springer use,,, the cheapo westhunters will be ok on a pcp

He uses them for a specific reason. They're probably extruded from the same alloy. I would just clamp them tighter. If that ruins them buy something else and start over but that's all they probably need. I don't think Sportsmatch even makes a ring that offers the adjustability he needs.
Otherwise, they've been working out very well for HIS purpose.

Actually The West Hunters have been flawless. I modified them from adjustable height to adjustable moa, and they lock on the rail, with a wide bite and bolts instead of screws.
the ones I'm having issues with is a Wulf 40 moa dovetail mount with screws. At the time I couldn't find any moa adjustable Sportsmatch rings.

I appreciate you KWK 👍

I would like to add that this 35e has the most violent recoil of my group so far.

I do not own any adjustable rings, I would have bent the barrel to be correct, each to his own method
that HW35 looks nice
my Beeman RX 20 cal needs the barrel bent/straightened and piston resealed, another winter project for me

I spent dec 26 with my HW 50 in 20cal, it still had twang from when I put a ARH kit in it last yr,,, added a plastic sleeve inside the piston and a strip of plastic inside the spring to tighten up the fit to the guide, ths ARH spring was not consistant in it's ID, needed a little more interference fit
now she thumps instead of doing the twannnng, I am smiling again with this girl 13.73 gr @ 605fps, I wonder if it would pick up speed with a coil clipped?

I have to admit,,, I have a negative attitude towards UTG, WestHunter and Discovery brands,,scopes and rings,,, but UTG PRO rings made in Michigan are nice, but bulky looking

What do you use to bend the barrel, home made jig or tree fork? I'm looking for ideas to build one.

I am 'thinking',,, put the block in the vise and use a long pipe as a bending tool
a straight edge along the side of the block to check for parallel
I'm thinking I don't want to bend it at the breech block, but up ahead of it. So I'm gonna try and make a jig to keep the pressure on the barrel and not at the breech block. Ed Canoles has a pic of his on the yellow, probably something like that.

Shot a Diana 34 which I purchased new around 1994. Still looks new and still dispatches squirrels that are shredding my wife's favorite cedar tree.

22 squirrels in a week, but a few missed the memo on leaving the cedar tree alone.

I raked a 5' x 5' area in the woods where said squirrels were placed, and set up a trail cam to see who stopped by for a free snack. Opossums, fox, bobcats, coyote and an osprey have all benefitted from the culling program.

Are you so sure you would be bending your barrel to be on at 75-100 yards like the OP is shooting?
I'm impressed with his shooting and the work around he came up with. He's getting satisfactory results. And enjoying it.
Otherwise, I wouldn't recommend adjustable rings on a springer either. Or any lopsided side clamp scope cant (that the OP is aware of and dealing with and I know because I've been following along with the gentleman's posts) introducing 11 mm rings for that matter. :)

Jim expects you to use spring goop Euro tar to quell the twang on the HW50. Just tight guides don't work on that one. Good work on the sleeve. I'd rather not goop the spring. Jim usually suggests adding spacers to increase velocity if there's room. It might shoot a little better with a Vortek seal if you haven't installed one already. A little smoother and fps a little bit☝️

Finally got time to shoot. Mild crazy weather. This keeps up our trees are going to bud, about 5 months early.
This is a HW80 .25 with a Vortek plus in it. It’s a workout.

This is one of my tanks. Also shot a HW80 .22, no pic same gun. Much more manageable than the .25.
Been working on a gun rack in what’s left of my wood shop. Crow

You might want to take it apart and check your piston seal. You might have blown it already. Our HW97K kicked like a mule -- ok. harder than a .308, maybe a .30-06 -- from day one. It blew out the piston seal, melted the breech seal, and broke the main spring within less than 90 days. I couldn't keep the scope from sliding back in the rings no matter what I did. The way yours is acting sounds like deja vu all over again.

Mind sharing what pellets you are using.
Looking for alternatives.
