What springer did you shoot today?

I generally shoot JSB’s, have a hoard of them. 15.89 , 14.3?, Hades and H&N FTT. if I can get them. Pretty sure the .25’s are JSB 25.??. Crow
Still haven't tried the .25 H&N 20.06? I don't have any Weirdrock .25 guns but my Webleys like them. Better trajectory. (y)
I got some Predator GTO .25 16.54 alloys but been so busy I haven't tried them. Shame on me. 😬
I think this might be my last full year '25 working like I do. 65 and still working hard every day. Thank you, Lord. Keeping my body strong. 🙏
I have to do my part too. A little 🏋️‍♀️ helps.

It started more like this with scope firmly against it.View attachment 523577

You think that the pellet is going to stop it?
Or does it get sheered off?

@20calguy - Friendly observation. Take it for what it's worth:

Several years ago, one of the more seemingly knowledgable guys on the list advised somebody that when he mounted his scope to his springer, to put the stop pin in the hole and then slide the mount FORWARD as much as possible before he tightens it to prevent it from slipping forward.

If you think about it, if you are assuming the greater recoil is the first recoil backwards into your shoulder, that should move the scope forward if it's loose.

Inertia would make the scope want to stay in place as the rifle recoils backwards underneath it, thus making it creep forward.

You have the opposite problem, just like I had with our HW97K. Our scopes slipped back - indicating the second recoil forward is the stronger recoil.

Mine was, and continues to be, so much stronger that it's literally broken the welds that attach the barrel assembly to the receiver tube three times so far.

Yes, it's literally broken our gun apart three times.

So, I could be all washed up here - I'm not the brightest boy in the world, and my thinking hasn't been as great as it could be lately - but it sure seems to me that your problem is with your forward recoil, from it not having proper air cushioning. And I don't know how your 35E is engineered, but you might want to at least examine it to see if there's anything it might break if you don't address the issue sooner rather than later.

Ours broke some sizable welds. These springers have some pretty considerable forces in them.

If you were to fire your springer without a pellet in the barrel, the piston slamming forward would be very much like giving the breech of your rifle a good hard smack with a hammer. If you have a leak or some other mechanical problem going on, that is essentially what you are doing every time you fire your rifle.

Or so it seems to me, for what it is worth.

Just a friendly observation. Forgive me, please, if my thinking isn't right here.

I don't remember where you bought it from, if you've ever said, but if you bought it from AOA, you might want to give them a call and see if you can send it back for them to look at under warranty.

Just banging around a little.

QYS have some seriously wide skirts. Not very thumb friendly as far as seating them proper.

I agree on the 35's shot cycle. Makes the R1's tame in comparison. I need to move the 35, not fun for me.
I haven't shot an R1 in thirty years.

I really like this 35, though. It would probably be better for the scope if I were a hunter rather than a shooter, though. I shot it yesterday from sunup to just short of sundown, switching to the 97 for sunset. 👍
I do not own any adjustable rings, I would have bent the barrel to be correct, each to his own method
that HW35 looks nice
my Beeman RX 20 cal needs the barrel bent/straightened and piston resealed, another winter project for me

I spent dec 26 with my HW 50 in 20cal, it still had twang from when I put a ARH kit in it last yr,,, added a plastic sleeve inside the piston and a strip of plastic inside the spring to tighten up the fit to the guide, ths ARH spring was not consistant in it's ID, needed a little more interference fit
now she thumps instead of doing the twannnng, I am smiling again with this girl 13.73 gr @ 605fps, I wonder if it would pick up speed with a coil clipped?

I have to admit,,, I have a negative attitude towards UTG, WestHunter and Discovery brands,,scopes and rings,,, but UTG PRO rings made in Michigan are nice, but bulky looking
Once the barrel is bent it needs a new one. That’s my view. Lol
I know it a viable remedy for some, I’m not able to go there.

We just have different goals for our shooting.
I like to replicate long range shooting in a small area, like Ten meter pistols at 25 yards, and the rifles at 75 yards. That requiers some different hardware.
All the best 👍

Bad seal or perhaps the dreaded "leaky HW35 breach syndrome"?
I don't see any problems with it. It shoots great, hasn't had any deiseling, delivers good power and speed out two 75y. I have had to lube the barrel pivot, and cocking shoe etc.
It just feels like it has more power than the other three when I fire it.

I appreciate your input, but all of my springers and gas ram go backward with scope or rail slippage? I have never had one go forward?

Maybe some more could chime in on the subject

When I install my springer scopes I always push the slack to the rear before tightening the base clamps. On powder burners I push the slack to the front before tightening the base clamps.
Works for me.🤔

Yes, if the scopes went frontwards, regular hi powered rifle scopes would work on a springer.
Scope manufacturers had to support the scopes internals from the opposite direction, for springer use.

I have shot the 124 and RX2 in .177 both with adjustable B square mounts , replaced the seal in the 124 and I have repaired the mount on the RX2, the 124 is shooting nice groups at 25 yards with H&N FTT 8.64 grain. 750 fps. RX2 not shooting that good with H&N Barracuda heavy,s a little better with crossman Premiers 10.5 grain. If I remember its shooting in the high 800s. but it never did group well., Just swapped out the mount and installed a new scope, Maybe I will try the lighter 8.44 JSB EXACT or the H&N 8.64 grain, It would probably Group nicer if I could let a little pressure out of the gas ram. I need and will shoot the rest of the springer collection in the near future its good gun maintenance, and mind therapy. I'll Post pics as I go.
