What springer did you shoot today?

Last night I tried to screw on that dam trigger housing on the old 50. Without preasure it screws on nicely but slips over first 3 threads. It also wants to cross thread. And with the spring in it wants to constantly cross thread.
Went to take a break and thought the pressure was off. The trigger block flew across my bench slammed into screw drivers knocking to the floor and hit metal setting off the alarm. After security calls I take another break. Will try later. Crow

Shot a Diana 350 mag. .22 cal. “Killer”. Had it zeroed at 47 yds. Still packs a punch.

24F today with light snow to clear the background. Used the hand warmer, Hollywood.
Second gun a killer squirrel gun a R9 .22. I was able to ring a bell through a 3/8 hole at 30 yds. If it didn’t go through, it was on the edge.

This gun is a gem. And so is that hand warmer. Crow

Congrats on the hand warmer. Hot! I just took a loaf of whole wheat cherry bread out of my bread machine. Used large dried cherries, some rolled oats, molasses, and some barley with the other ingredients. The oil/shortening was olive oil. It smells and tastes great. Need to get a shower then go downstairs to the range. The bullet trap is noisy but I have a plan including expanding foam in a corner on the backside and a few strips of silicone sealer on some visible places on the back. Think it will slow down the TINK! Be Well Brothers, dito.

wear driving gloves as well on both hands but cut the index and thumb tips off left hand. The first to get cold. View attachment 529420There’s my painted gloves. I’m usually good for 1-2 hr. runs before I catch a chill. Once your hands are cold you’re done. I’m going to try that hand warmer tomorrow. Crow
Yes, hands and feet get cold it's game over.

in that case I would find out where the threads engage without the spring in it, and mark the spot on the end block and the receiver tube. Now test it a few times to make sure it engages at your sharpie marks every time. Now load the spring and line up those marks, then try and start the threads. You should push past the stripped threads before trying to start the good thread.
And wear eye protection.

These two started this post a HW77 Special .177 and it’s special.

And this HW97 .177. I think this has a 12 FPE spring.
Almost like a delay shot but accurate. I’m getting more of these 12 FPE springs.

Amazing accuracy. I could hit a squirrel 🐿️ in the ear lobe.
Don’t know how got this line.
Deadly day of shooting. Crow

I did all that. This has been off a zillion times. Really worn teeth. Dry run it catches easy. But once a little preasure it wants to cross thread. Most annoying. Don’t like this method of connecting the trigger block. I think I have 21 rifles using this method. Crow

It's going to have to be lined up perfectly to start.
If you have to use a spring compressor it will be more difficult. My spring in my 97K has almost no preload, so I can start the end block by hand. I had your same troubles trying to start a hornet spring with a compressor and mine has good threads..lol. Keep trying you'll get it.

I ordered a HW 35e in .22 from AofA a couple weeks ago, just delivered today due to weather delays. Went with the blued edition. Really a beautiful gun. Already have a nice Athlon scope to mount. Will do some preliminary shooting to establish a baseline, break it down and clean it up. Lube with Krytox and do some pellet testing. You guys have taught me well ;-). Photos to come...

Am looking forward to it! John

It’s so close you can taste it.
Will cutting one coil do damage?
This is a 1972 HW50 and just used a spring from a new 50. Crow

Probably will drop it a little, be easier to cock.
With all them springs you got, you have nothing to loose. Could always space it back up if you don't like it, I suppose. Next time I open up the HW30, I'm going to space it till it won't cock, then I'll know for sure how much I can boost it up.

I've tried getting an underline and couldn't figure it out. Lol

I shot the 97K this evening expecting the wind to lay down today, but it toyed with me until the end.
Fortunately, it was mild with calm occasions presenting some great opportunities only to sneak up on you and slam dunk your shot.

In any event, the last time I shot it, I couldn't hit the broad side of a barn, after shooting H&N Barracuda's and FTTs. Then it wouldn't shoot the JSB's either. Frustrated I put it away, figuring to clean the barrel. We'll I never did.
I wound up shooting JSB's onto paper to see what it would do.

The first shot was at flyer 4" low 2" left. The next six shots were 6" low off paper but less than a two inch group. 👍
So I started adjusting trying to confirm zero when the wind allowed. I got the gun back dialed in, and went back to shooting shot shells, and CO2 cartridges. My favorite hit was in the south end of a north bound shotshell, right in the primer. 😁
The next project will be trying to figure what happened?

I really like my MDT level. It currently resides on my AAA EVOL…
