What springer did you shoot today?

Crow I hope you don't lose your new trees. I just planted two new cold hardy figs. A Celeste and Beer's Black Fig. They came from a place called Stark Brothers in my home State of Misery.
Do you have a backup generator? Be Well Brothers, B.
Thanks Bandito. 😵‍💫✋Yes, I have a generator that kicks in automatically. I don’t know the power went off till I see the stove flashing.
This big old pine is losing the battle. Just missed some young planted birch.

Generac propane or natural gas powered, big money?

This freezing rain hasn’t stopped. Never seen such damage. Glad I have a generator, still no power. This is my range.

I was outside for 30 seconds to take these pics, and heard 2 trees snap in the distance. Going to have a massive fire, to clean up.
IMG_1433.jpeg
I don’t think the power will be on today. I have 1/2 dozen trees down just on my property. Got to be a lot of hydro wires down. Not pretty. Supposed to warm up this afternoon. Crow

Just went out to access. At least 20 trees down on my property and counting. Not over still raining. I have 6 trees across the road in front of my place alone and wires on ground.
This my road out of here, 1 mile to a road.
IMG_1436.jpeg
I have a nice covered trailer with a massive dent now.
Check out this one branch bearing this weight. It’s amazing any trees are standing.
IMG_1438.jpeg
Looks like the chain saw is going to get a workout. Losted 6-7 birch I planted, crushed from falling debris.

Looks like a war zone. Crow

I’ll be shooting today waiting for the danger to disappear.

I did get out for a shoot. I had a downed tree at 30 yds. Sad to say, but best target ever. Used a HW30 .177. Just kept hitting the tips of branche’s.
IMG_1452.jpeg
While there for an hour. I heard 100 trees or branches downed. While shooting a branch took out my weather vein.

What a drag!. Crow

Wow! be careful on the cleanup, it won't happen in a couple of days.

Sucks, but a reality of winter. It will take a lot of work to get back to normal, but you'll get there.

I was in my shop sharpening my 3 saws. One is a pole saw. While in there this tree fell on my range and hung up on hydro.
IMG_1464.jpeg
It just doesn’t stop. Took me 40 min to clean this area. 6-7 trees
IMG_1468.jpeg
This is the back of the range.
The Kubota saves the day. Got a mile to go. Sorry to rant. I’ve seen bad ice storms before, this is different and it’s still raining. If you just stand outside, every 15-30 sec. you hear a tree or branch coming down. I want to get some pics with the drone. Crow

Shot a few groups today with the HW30 at 20 yards, pin point with JSB 7.87's. The older HW98 still in parts on the bench, it will get oring sealed as well. I made another test cap today, and I think I've found the best oring squeeze dimensions.
I removed the brass screw cups from the stock and made real post screw cups as the stock was one sided from the wood being compressed, breech block was rubbing on one side.

I also repaired the buggered up screws on the adjustable stock, they were mangled up bad.
Look much better now and reblued.

Filed down to fit, from this....

If somebody wants these brass screw cups I'll send them to ya, I'm not going to use them on anything, brass ain't my thing. ✌🏻

Looks like a lot of ice for anytime. I suspect even up there it is not common this time of year. Best of luck. What you need now is a warm rain.

I don’t know what to say…stay safe. May your clean up go smoothly.. John

I’m 70, never seen anything even close to this. Can’t wait to see tomorrow. It’s still raining. Crow

Thanks John. Already removed 9 trees. Nasty cutting them when they still have all the stress in them, dangerous. 3 trees were iron wood, have to sharpen my blade already. Crow

I’ll bet it’s nasty…stored energy in a bent tree is very dangerous..just be careful..John

Be careful and don't overwork yourself. I'm about six months shy of 80 now and could do a lot more at 70 , Now with that facing me I would simply have to get some help. I still do my own yard work, but not to the fine detail as I did years ago. I had a sudden onset of osteoarthrits just before Christmas and it really hinders my getting around, feeling great one day, get up the next morning and literally a cripple for a while until I got a special injection in my knee. Walking slow on a hard floor, like helping my wife in the grocery store still hurts, but it's strange about two weeks ago I had to pick up a lot of limbs from the yard due to a windstorm and walking on that soft surface did not hurt. I have about 1 3/4 acres , probably a lot less that what you show, but It's still plenty to take care of.

Was yesterday ... but with my last remaining HW35 in the Stainless / Nickle finish. It is tuned with my custom parts and twang free enough and a nice quiet bump shot cycle.
Noted dang that kinda smarts shooting semi loose fitting JSB 8.4's, so went and grabbed some better fitting H&N FTT's which sounded and calmed down the shot cycle more.
 but here near 15 months post right shoulder surgery .. the Sharp & Quick recoil snap against shoulder was uncomfortable enough to put it away after @ 10 shots

Have been FT competing of late with the PCP and shoulders felt fine .... not so much shooting a springer. Bummer.

I feel for you Dave, having to clean up after a storm isn’t nice or fun. At our old property we had 92 gum trees on our foot path (verge) and any sort of heavy rain and winds would bring down spears. The ghost gums are noted for dropping their branches and the little Husqvarna used to get a work out. The big pine trees inside our fences would either fall over or break when a big storm hit.
I would drive from tree to tree filling the back of the Ute with fire wood. No ice storms like your having I would have to relocate in that environment.

Hope this doesn’t cut down on your shooting tooooooo much😂

Gary

Thanks. I’ve cut down over a 1000 trees. Again this is different. You have to watch for breakage still hung up. Every tree has got preassure on it. I’m psyching myself to go out soon. Crow

Thanks. I’m already burned out from yesterday. I’m capable to do yesterday’s work load, just takes 3 times longer.
I’m just under 2 acres, that’s enough of this. Crow
Dozed off forgot to send last night.

That’s unfortunate, hope your shoulder heals.
There’s days I pay for my past. Hard to shoot. Used to ride dirt bikes, down hill skied and played way too much Foos ball. Crow

Thanks Gary. My tractor saved the day. Does the work of 50. 2 crews and myself, we can now get out. Wow

Going to be, they’re saying up to 2 weeks no power. Crow
