What springer did you shoot today?

This was from the other day...

No not near normal, like you it should be 30 degrees cooler, forecast just show to be about 25 cooler tomorrow. When I was growing up in NE Louisiana back int the 50's and early 60's it would get cold and stay that way, not Canada cold but highs in mid 40's to 50's on average. I can remember trick or treating on Haloween, my birthday back then and there was usually ice on water puddles, now it is often shorts and t shirts.
This should be ice across.

Half the lake is still water. I was hoping to put a 100 yd. + range on the ice. Don’t have a death wish. Crow

I was at Eglin AFB, Fort Walton, FLorida when two years, the winters of 77-78 and 78-79 we saw some snowflakes, nothing stuck, but water along the edges of the bay froze over not thick, but still ice. We were in base housing, old units, probably pre WWII, exterior walls concrete block, floors pier and beam and I do not think any insulation underneath. They had been upgraded at some point to central air and heat, and the gas furnace ran constantly

Stopped by my sister's farm today to sight in a new old scope on my Evolution!
Bushnell Trophy 4-12x40 Japan glass! 👍
Got this from Lewis a few years back and the trigger job he did is sweet! Best trigger I've ever felt on a Theoben. Shooting 10.34 JSBs at 740fps and Lazer accurate! 40° and cloudy today but just had to get out and whack a few sparrows!

Digging that scope and the gun. Was thinking about putting a period-correct scope on my Winchester 435. Where’s a good place to look for them? Besides Lewis’ house I mean ha!

Been on the guns all day. I the morning installed a Vortec kit in a TX200 and cronied it.
In the afternoon these 4 a HW95 .177, FWB Sport, HW98 .22 and HW80 .25.

The 80 I cronied and zeroed the scope. That’s all the shoulder could take.
The FWB is like good whiskey , it gets better every time I use it.
My 98 is point and shoot. It is so accurate, really like this gun.

Pray one day I’ll get it in .20. Crow

AOA having a hug sail on used scopes I seen several Bushnell, Japanese glass .
Thanks for the heads up. Nice little Japanese Bushnell Trophy 4-12 x 40 on the way. Believe it’s the same scope Chuckhunter has on his Theoben. Should be a great fit for the Winchester.

Really enjoyed shooting the HW35E yesterday. Such a smooth, elegant well-mannered gun. Then, this came in the mail today from BoG. Hatsan 135QE Vortex .22. Ying to the 35E’s Yang. This is a filthy, nasty, manhood testing BEAST of a rifle! Don’t let its good looks fool you, it’s a hammer. Takes effort to cock. It recoils. But man, 30+ lb-ft from a spring gun?! Come on! He was shooting CPHP so I tried some Crosman domes. Impressed with the accuracy so far. Stock sights, standing, 12-13 yd and hitting 1.25” target regularly. BoG did some work on the trigger and it’s really nice. Short first stage, solid wall. Haven’t tested pull weight but doesn’t feel like more than 3 lb. It’s heavy but balances very well, was easy to shoot off hand. The fiber optic sights are nice for old eyes in corrective lenses. Just an absolute blast to shoot and you can skip upper body at the gym after ha! Thanks again BoG.

Kim and I shot for awhile today. She was going to shoot 3 guns today. She started with her HW50S that she hadn’t shot in a bit. She shot it so well she never switched ha ha. Spinners, metal squirrel, chalk targets mostly and Kim hung some critter paper targets at the end. I shot the HW35E, the HW97K long, and then finished off by pulverizing things and getting a workout with the Hatsan 135QE Vortex. The 35E is super smooth but not as accurate as I want it yet. Going to chrono and play with screw torque tomorrow. The 97 long is just phenomenal. The more I shoot it the better it gets. Accurate, not particularly sensitive and hard hitting. And the Hatsan is just its own animal. I’m going to buy some cantaloupe or something just to see what it does to them. Very accurate so far out to 25 yards.

Our old shop makes a great backstop. Old carpet against the wall we shoot at. When it dries up enough to get a trackhoe in without destroying our yard it’s getting demoed. About to start building a portable backstop for when that day comes.
