What Target Speed? .25 Impact M3 700mm - NSA 26.8grain slugs

What Target Speed are folks finding work best for a.25 Impact M3 700mm with NSA 26.8grain slugs?

I'm currently shooting them at around 950 fps, and though groups are awesome at 17 yards they open up a bit at 35yards +. I really want tight groups at 50-75 yards.

I liked them between 980 and 1050 but you'll just have to experiment with an impact. That barrel system can be finicky.

I found that the Nielsen 33.5 gr. flat based slugs worked the best in my 700mm barrel. They maintain accuracy between 1000-1050 FPS (dime size at 50 yds). I couldn't get the lighter slugs like the 26 grain to shoot well in my std. Superior liner. 

33.5 gr Nielsens at 150 yds (with some occasional wind gusts)

I shoot them out of a Wildcat MKIII, bottle, 600mm barrel at 990 and performs well.

I have found the longer the slug the better the accuracy.

Thus the .342 33.6 gr is more accurate for me. And I was having the same problem as you with the group opening up at around 75 yards. until I lowered the speed to around 830 fps. Wow, the group tightened up.

Shooting a Maverick Compact. So. maybe a slower speed?
