What to do? Scuba tank or what

My older AL scuba tank is out of date.

Now what should I do? I think my choices are buy a used AL tank.

or New carbon tank.

I only have one pcp that can hold 230 bar. The others are only rated for 200 bar.

The guy at the scuba shop said he can only charge an AL tank to 3100 psi.( 213 bar) -8% of full fill, if my math is correct..

I don't shoot that much only pest control. Never target shoot. Never tether and never will.

Any suggestions?

As mobilemail suggested, see if you can a find a place to get your tank hydro tested-mine cost me $40 each to have the test done. The guy who did mine has retired though and no one local is doing hydros that I know of. If you find a facility that does the testing they may also be a good source for used scuba tanks-I got two from my local guy. The closer the better as shipping will hurt!

PS-If all else fails it sounds like a hand pump would work for you, especially if you just top off after a pesting session.

First, find out how much PSI or BAR your scuba shop's compressor could fill up to. You'll then know whether it's worth it to get a SCBA/CF tank. I say it's worth upgrading to a larger capacity tank in terms of air pressure. You could always have the advantage in case a new dive shop that has a larger capacity compressor opens up near your area or your current dive shop upgrades their compressor or if you decide to purchase one yourself. It's just a matter of having the proper connections/adapters hooked up to your tank. If your dive shop's compressor could only fill tanks up to 3500 PSI, they could still fill a SCBA/CF tank to that pressure. Another option besides a CF tank is to get a steel SCUBA tank which most are rated for 3442 PSI/237 BAR. Just request that they fill or top off the steel tank to that pressure after it cools off.
