Couple weeks ago my cheapo 10-40x50 finally kaput, I would need some time to pile up a cash for a decent quality long range scope. I decided in mean time I will play with red dot.
Did some research on reviews and picked up a Vortex Sparc AR. Nice sharp dot, I like it.
Again in mean time ran into a trade deal here @ AGN with another fella, for Sig Juliet 6 magnifier. The lens arrived yesterday, I mount it, nice sharp glass. Turn on the red dot...and a shock.
The dot is not a dot but a small short line like this " \ " with a barely recognizable bigger dot in a middle. I rotate my Impact around the lens center and the line rotates with it. Called me son, he sad line and dot in the middle, called my other son...a line, today morning called friend of my...he sad a line again with maybe a dot in the middle.
Uhm. Sit in a car and drive to closest gun shop. They have a Sig Romeo 5, tried it even more awful thick line. Tried the Sig Romeo 5X-XDR, the circle is nice but the center dot is still like a fuzzy line. We test it with my Sig Juliet 6 with the store x4 and x6 lenses, one another lens, all magnifiers show a "\" line with a recognizable dot in the middle what is again debatable if I shall accept it.
So a good and a bad....my eyes are stil OK for a 60 yo. A bad, I need to figure this thing, worked so hard to put the set together.
Got home, lets make a picture, and dang, I got it.
There is a LED Diode in 45 degree angle that projects a dot to the center of the lens, that is fine, but creates a thin "\" ghost line on a glass curvature as well. Not visible by naked eye at x1 power but the Sig x6 lens magnifies it. Now this is a picture I made with S9+ but you shall got it what I mean with "\"
According to my wife (btw she is working in optics for bigger defence company), the better glass on Juliet6 is showing blemishes on coating how the light is "kissing" that sphere on Vortex glass (and/or the LED Diode material).
I like the Vortex Sparc AR as a stand alone unit but is going back to the store, that little red dot sight most likely not meant to combine with higher power magnifiers.
I am keeping the Sig x6 lens and going forward with it, looking now into some reflex scopes reviews.
Or shall I look for prism sights maybe? I don't really plan to spend a big money on it but I don't want to buy some low quality neither I would regret later for $$.
Edited: the OP description/question
