What's the best way to clean a Benjamin rifle barrel (brass)

Since the Benji/Sheridan rifles have brass barrels, what is the best way to clean them? Seeing as how most barrel brushes are brass or steel, you would think that they would tear up the barrel and rifling. I don't think nylon brushes would clean that well and doesn't the Bore Snake have brass/bronze fibers in them that could also ruin the barrel?

Brass barrels tend to not need cleaning very frequently. Some would even say never. But a simple cotton patch on a pull-through with your favorite solvent will do the trick. WD-40, Goo-gone, Kroil, Hoppes #9, pretty much whatever you like.

If you don’t have a pull-through, cut a length of weed whacker line, melt a ball on one end and use a razor to cut a sharp point on the other. Squares cut from a cotton T-shirt work great or you can buy some.

Or make your own with a string trimmer line.

Heavy non metal Fishing line and old T Shirts cut into 1 inch squares for 22 or 1/2 inch to 3/4 inch for 177 with wd40 if you want to not spend money.

I use patch worm and love it. T-shirt with string pull through also works.

I just bought a TON of trimmer line, and I have a bunch of old t-shirts, so it looks like I found my solution

I use nylon braided mason twine with a plastic lead weight and plastic lasso for T-shirt type material on the other. If you have to use a bore snake use one with a plastic brush core or no brush at all - the metal ones cause some barrel damage that isn’t a necessary evil like it is in powder burning.

Most trimmer line formulations have abrasives as an additive to aid in strength and cutting ability on tough weeds. You might want to consider this point carefully before committing to this path.

China makes cheap smooth weed trimmer line so it breaks easy and you have to buy more. Works just fine .

Brass barrels don't need to be cleaned unless they have been neglected. If you do use a patch with a drop of penguin oil a couple times then a couple dry patches. Brass is very soft anything abrasive will ruin your barrel.
