What’s the cheapest compressor I can get?

Ask first what is the most reliable compressor,.. at a reasonable cost. Then, choose from there. There is some cheap ones out there with cheap components that will fail quickly. Some people will get one of these and immediately tear it down and replace all of the cheap o-rings. Some require extra cooling additions, (often home made). Small and cheap will usually mean limited fill time as well.

Cheapest would be the yong heng. You can get one for 250 shipped plus tax, shame on ebay for now taxing. But most places now taxes anyways. All you need is a bottle of oil and an gold filter. Been running mine for 2 years with no issues. I change my gold filter every 3 months. I would not recommend running the yong heng without a filter. Oil and water will get into your gun.

The tax issue is driven by the states. Ebay collects taxes from the buyer because the states collect taxes from eBay and Amazon and every other I ternet seller. Hardly the fault of ebay.

I've been using ebay for years and it never tax. I think they only started taxing in 2019 if I'm not wrong. But yeah its stupid state wanting to get greedy and taxing everything. I missed the old ebay where we never paid tax and free shipping.

The cheapest compressor worth having is the Yong Heng and at $299 with free shipping it is a bargain mine cost more a year back when I bought it. You do NOT want the "Simple" version which is less expensive, because it DOES NOT have a water separator. You DO NOT want the "Auto Shutoff unit as it shuts off somewhere near 3000psi. ONLY the , "Set Pressure" and "Hardcopy/Hardcover" units are worth having.

You cannot buy a better compressor for under $1000.

First. I think assuming the original poster is asking essentially what's the best compressor worth owning. Reading that into his post seems reasonable. So biohazardman has answered him. If you have followed this compressor debate as I have for years clearly the statement best compressor under $1000 seems to me to be totally accurate (based only on what I've read on the forum).

My concern is the mid priced stuff filling the gap between $1000 and $3000. I'd suggest being extremely careful shopping in that price range. After having spent a fortune on others I'd suggest the Alkin because its the only unit rated for CONTINUOUS DUTY. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I do believe if you respect some of the other mid priced units and don't ask more of them then they are designed for you will be OK but if you are a HARD USER you best spend the difference. My experience and supported by what I've read on the forum reading ALL of It. The question is what defines a hard user. Don't know but I burned up a daystate 110 without trying very hard. Read all of the info on the forum and draw your own conclusions. No one compressor is right for everyone but you really do need to be fully informed on this subject. Good luck in this.

Don't go below Yong Heng quality and you will be fine, if you know how to take care of your stuff will last you years, but if you are a butcher no matter how much you spend you can buy a space science compressor but you will ditch it at a first corner.



When people mentioning $1000 and up for a compressor,,,,, I would suggest you can buy 4 YH for that money, do the math.

Ya get what you pay for. I did the Xisico route and shipped the POS back after much disappointment and empty air guns. Now proudly own a Hill EC 3000 and the hand pump sits in the corner, forget which corner.

Wish I had that problem...forgetting what corner!! My hand pump has been on backorder with a expected ship moved to 17 Dec.

I have a Hatsan spark around $330.00 (ebay kockoffs cheaper) I have had it over 16 months and it has been trouble free and working well!

That being said you have to use it like it was designed to.

Fill only your AG, no tanks

Do not let it get over 170 degrees

Run the fan for a while after you turn off the compressor

I have filled my 480cc Bantam tank hundreds of times, from 140 to 250 bar 

Many people that bash these do not actually own them, there are a number of happy owners on this forum, I can only comment on my own experience which has been great.

I think some owners expect too much or do not use them for there intended use or let get too hot.

If you read the totality of the information on the sub forum you will see that there have been a fair number of early failures of these compressors. AND the YH compressors have some disadvantages. Water cooling, no filtration or air drying unless added. They are also comparatively slow to fill. Ask the dealers if they are selling a continuous duty machine and take that in to consideration. Most likely they will not know (as I did not ) what continuous duty means . I am not a butcher or hard on my stuff and that's not why the compressors fail. They fail because they are not built to the standards some of us need. I am suggesting that we are not being fully informed.. That's all. AND if you have to baby the unit (which I agree is a good idea and would help prevent some of the failures hopefully) that information should be provided as well. With my daystate I was given no such advice. In fact there were no instructions at all provided. Nothing about break in. The Alkin does not require any of this. You start it up. Run it for five minutes shut it down. That's worth something. If you compare the daystate and the Alkin side to side the its like comparing a 1/4 ton truck to a 1 ton. Nothing wrong with a 1/4 truck or any to these compressors if you know the facts. Again just information.
