What’s your best hunting pellet?

I agree with the poly mags being absolutely awesome, but my absolute favorite is the old school crow magnum. Every time I put one of those massive hollow points in an air rifle I envision all the small game I took with them as a child. It’s hard to let the good times go
I had no luck with those in the past in any rifle, they were complete garbage for me, unless 4” groups at 50yds is good for you 😊😁

Ever hear a polymag designate a sparrow?
The Crosman Premier Hollow Points simply “crumple” them. The smack sound is audible sub 40 yards. Sparrows are very small critters so any solid, centering shot, .177, .22, and up? Devastating to them… Chances of survival? Slim to none.

I have used Crow Magnums in .177cal and .25cal with no luck. I used the .25cal crowmags for "picking apples" at short range. Very dramatic..:LOL.
The old H&N Ram Point in .25cal had similar effect on apples, but a slight better accuracy. Both type of pellets were "20yards jobs". No more.

The best "flat headed" pellet I have used with succes was the .25cal H&N Hollow Point. They don`t make them anymore. I have scored a lifetime supply of these. Best pellet for my Theoben Classic in .25cal(Ram-piston).

I ve taken more animals with domed Diabolo pellets. I have Hades and Polymags, but hardly ever use them. Domed pellets manufactured by JSB have worked wonderfully for me when placed in the right part of an animals head. Specifically, I’ve had success using .25 domed pellets 25-34 grain. Once I find the effective velocity and range, if I practice to keep my accuracy consistent and my guns functional, good luck to whatever is on the other end of the barrel.

I shoot targets BR . i now have a HW77 long .22 . Actually hesitated buying it because of .22 but so excited to find a 77 i bought it anyway .
very happy i did . I shoot H&N Sport wadcutters very devastating on a squirrel . That massive flat head just tears their brain apart so the dance is more of a two-step .

Here lined up...

.177cal Baracuda - 25 cal baracuda
.177cal H&N Baracuda HUnter - .177cal JSB Ultra shock
.25cal EunJin _ .177cal EunJin
.25cal H&N Match - .177cal RWS Super Mag

For me the flat/domed headed pellet still has a lot to offer in regards to hunting small game. Often within 30-50 meters.

The .25cal Polymags works just find from an Theoben old gasrammer(I think its 35 metrs).

Funny you mentioned the crow magnums. As a kid the CM were my absolute favorite pellets shot exclusively in my break barrels. Thanks for the reply

I had a Beeman R9 that loved Crow Magnums. I'm glad they came up in this discussion because I just tried them in my Bullshark and it likes them too. Hard to believe that it's putting them under a nickel at 25 yards when they're running 1020 fps at the muzzle. I shot a Daisy HP and a Crow Mag into a gallon of water at 10 yards. Both of them were traveling over 1000 fps and neither of them exited the jug.
