Umarex Whats your Favorite Affordable PCP Airgun

The Umarex Notos is my favorite affordable airgun. I got it for $229 on sale, Its regulated, compact and light weight. Very accurate out to 50 yards.
Great started PCP airgun.

I added the Moderator to make it more backyard friendly and also added the Mlok hand grip to add some accessories.

CanCan moderator brings down the sound by only added 1 inch to overall length.

That now looks like a prop gun for some space Si Fi movie ! I'll bet it handles & shoots great though!

Hard to say everyone idea of affordable is so very different
Your comment is unfortunately correct. PCP air gunning is NOT very affordable. Not because the air guns are expensive, but because high pressure air (HPA) is very expensive. There is no such thing as inexpensive HPA. Air is expensive as soon as you squeeze it.

HPA is not cheap (in cost or effort) but there are ways around that...

My friend bought a couple of cheap used SCUBA tanks and fills them at the dive shop for his PCPs.

Three guys from the hunt camp chipped in together to get a good compressor they share.

Join a club that has a HPA compressor available.

Start a local shooting club/group to fund a HPA source for your neighborhood.

There's quite a variety of reasonably inexpensive small portable compressors available for filling PCPs.

A HPA hand pump is reasonable to use on PCP pistols and rifles that have small reservoirs and operate at lower pressures.

So yeah, HPA is not free but the energy to shoot a projectile has to come from somewhere.

IMHO, a tank and compressor is a one time purchase that can be amortized over time, usage and multiple PCPs.

You want the benefits of PCPs? Getting a HPA source is part of the price of admission.

Cheers!

I only have one PCP and it's a Umarex Origin, pretty affordable.
I recently jumped off and got a GX CS3 compressor and I feel like a whole new world has opened for me. Now I won't hesitate to think about getting other PCP's since I don't have to pump any more.
It is a shame they stopped production of the Origin, It was a very goo entry level gun.
The Origin was my entry into PCPs. I still have it, but don't shoot it as much as my others.

I personally have a compressor because I can and its much easier, but when I started and most of my friends have cheap second hand Scuba dive bottles that we fill up at the local fire station!

I dont really know why I never see the Fire Station as an option to fill the bottles around the forum, but my guess is that most people WONT have a dive Shop nearby but they will have a firestation. Most (if not every) firestation will have an HPA compressor for the air bottles of the firefighters.
At least here they will happily fill the bottle for you for cheap or even free, I'm in Portugal. Do you guys have any similar experience?

If its similar, I find this to be the cheapest and easiest way to get HPA.

Another vote for the Notos, while I've not had the exceptional accuracy (so far, firewalker barrel incoming) it's still been enough for my purpose of small game hunting. It's quiet enough that I'm usually allowed more than one shot, hah. I'm just hand pumping the darn thing, though I might pick up a buddy bottle at some point for a few extra shots.

All the better since I have a cheap 3D printer and can pretty easily crank out new parts like magazines, moderators, foregrips or even folding stock lowers!

I don't own any high end guns. Most of mine are mid to low priced or tinkered project guns. Over the past 10 or so years I have amassed a bunch. Every time I see this question posed I try to respond but I struggle to pick just one. I just like shooting them all. Many times I think I found the favorite I pick up another and it becomes my favorite.
I guess my answer is... the one I have in my hands at any given time. (y)
