What's your favorite shot group you've had?

I've shot several near hole in hole groups over the years but this is by far my favorite. 2289 Crosman backpacker. Only 15 yards. Nothing ground breaking by any means but the way I got to capture it will probably always make it my favorite. Shooting an old hardwood pallet. Aiming at a knot in the wood. 3 shots and I stopped so I didn't ruin the group...lol

Not an expensive gun, no crazy long range, and a cheap Walmart scope but a memory that will last a lifetime.

Not a group, but one shot. It occured about 60 years ago when I was in college. I took my rifle, a Winchester model 70 featherweight in 30-06 to the parish rifle range, set up and took one shot. We had a papermill nearby and they supplied targets free of charge, so all we had were 50 yard handgun targets. I took the one shot, looked through my 4x scope, then went over to a range spotting scope, looked again then went back and started packing my gun and equipment. When the range was called cold, went down and retrieved my target. I had centered the X in the center of the ten ring , Laid it down on my bench and the old times took a look and started shaking thier heads. I commeted that it would be hard to improve on perfection.

My most memorable group, possibly my best group? I shot out of my older pre reg .22 FX Royale. I was in the process of selling a gun to purchase a gun and decided it was the Royale that had to go. Figured I'd just check the shooting velocity and accuracy one last time so that I could reliably pass on some details. Was obviously an awesome day for weather and all the stairs were aligned that day as it just shot consistently awesome! Pretty well all the 50m groups were shooting between 0.3 and 0.4 inch so I thought I would try for the first time ever a 75m and 100m grouping. Both 100m groups were under 1 inch, and the the 75m group was 0.365!
I Figured that day that my humble Royale had earned its spot in the safe.

Back in 2022 when I first got my P35-22 I was testing pellets and got some great groups with H&N Baracuda Match pellets. The first picture, right hand target is a three shot group at 25 yards with near 0 center to center. The second group is 5 shots at 33 yards that is a little under 1/4 inch. I shot a second near zero 25 yd 3 shot group but can't find the picture right now. Last year I shot a 200 in the 30 yd challenge with this sub $500 gun.

Pretty pleased with this one. I'm practicing for the next NLR match and was trying out my EVOL Magnon 15" .30. Slight wind at about 5 mph. Using 44.75 JSBs not selected and out of the magazine. Accutac bipod on the front and a Bench Rest roll up sand bag on the rear. For the scope I have an Arken EPL-4 on the gun. I have a Paradigm being tuned by @zx10wall that I want to use in competition, but I can't complain with these results. Clearly more practice is required!

Cherry picking fun, Bam50 full length Big Ed HW .22 barrel & only three shots. Actually like a target card I put 15 shots on with a 12fpe QB at 110 yards but cant find that one. Horrible swirling winds and most shots didn't go through the cardboard backer, moved out to 110 yards and that is just too far for 12fpe.
Bam target shot in the seated FT position.

Here's my best recent ones from my 3 favorite rifles.

30 shots 30 yards HW95. They kept going into the same hole so I kept shooting until one flew.

5 shots offhand unsupported using iron sights. Cometa 400 gas ram at 25 yards.

A couple outlaws standing at 45 yards. HW97k.

HW97k at 25 yards. I dont remember how many shots. 8-10 is my best guess.

A stegosaur with the Cometa and a tapir with a Hatsan 95. Offhand open sights at 25 yards.

Out of literally thousands of groups with probably close to a hundred air guns, the absolutely most memorably group for me was a .31" C-T-C 10 shot group at 50 yards, shooting a Georgia Airguns - Charlie Frear Power Tuned .22 Cricket Long.

Another one that was a real surprise, was a 10 shot 3/4" group at 75 yards shooting a Model 56 Diana Target Hunter in .22.

Like most people I've shot some exceptional groups where shooter wibbles and pellet wobbles and all the shots land close together.

While groups like that are a pleasant surprise to be enjoyed, I think they are hardly representative of the true accuracy of the ammo, equipment and the shooter.

I shoot a "report card" - five groups of 5 and average the size to get my "real" group size and 25 singles, measured and averaged to get determine my accuracy.

When shooting casually and a tight group starts to form, I don't stop at 5 or 10 shots, I keep on shooting to see how many consecutive hits I can group before I blow the group. My record so far is 13 shots in a 3/8" hole at 40 yards.

Here's a report card where I'm checking my Wolverine at 40 yards with JSB 15.89 pellets (unsorted). Dimensions are in thousands, Average Group is 540; Average Radius (distance from POA to POI) 215; and the Average Diameter (twice the Average Radius to simulate a 25 shot group) is 430. Not my best day but likely a typical session with that PCP.

Excellent question! Took me an entire day to ponder and decide. I shoot a lot of groups to say the least, consider my pictured target boards, now consider both sides of them, now consider two more tall boards at different ranges, when both sides are used up they are replaced as needed. The vast majority of these groups were shot with PCP's...30, 35, 55 yards, just because there are convenient spots to lean the boards against. 99.9% of all these groups were shot off my knee, there isn't a shooting session that I don't produce a notable group...The way these modern PCP's preform printing nice groups is easy...lots of practice. I often shoot a promising group until I give out or produce a flier. The group I will post, actually two, which are a continuous group of the same gun...eight months apart! PCP's are like cheating, even non benched. I choose these 30 yard groups from my HW 97 .177 tuned to 12 fpe by member Lewis some years ago...I don't shoot springers much, hard on the arms and neck you know, these two groups total 50 shots.30 eight months ago and the first 20 a few days ago...This HW97 is extraordinary...and tuned by an airgun buddy, so just a little more special. Both shot off my knee at 30 yards.
