When Do I Need A Heavy Slug Liner For My FX Maverick VP 600mm .30cal?

My FX Maverick VP .30cal with a 600mm STX liner shoots FX Hybrid Slugs and JSB Exacts pretty good, but accuracy starts to decline when I switch to the JSB Knockout 50gr and H&N Slug II ammo.

Will I see a noticeable improvement if I replace the STX liner with the Heavy Slug Liner? Will the Heavy Slug Liner greatly reduce my accuracy with JSB Hades and FX Hybrid Slugs?

I saw this on another post. If you go off this... it looks like you might be better off switching to the heavy slug liner. More spin for the heavier slugs.

I have and had very good luck in the past with the superior heavy in 30. I have liners in 500mm, 600mm, 700mm, and even the 800mm but I have not used the 800mm much as the recoil and whip in created some other issues with heavy projectiles. I mainly fire .22 and 25 slugs now for 200 plus yard accuracy.

Do you use the slug liner with your .22?

I have the 1:14 800 mm (I think I have a 1:16 in 800mm too) and 1:16 700mm. They are my best shooting barrels. I shoot
32 gr to 40 gr slugs with excellent results. What weird is in 800mm the 218 shoot the same as the 217 for me.

Back before the 30 yard challenge started I messed with the 30 and the heavy liners. I shot the 30 yard challenge at 36 a couple times to get a 197. Actually it was the 30 yard challenge that helped me with keeping small groups at long distances. I believe the ones shot for the challenge were the jsb pellets at the time.

wow 2 years ago. But yes the standard superior liner still does well for 50ish down grain which at the time seemed like all of like 3 pellets. Maybe some changes in 2 years since?
